I’m currently playing through this now, though. Not anywhere near the end yet, but I’m about to the middle. Loving it so far, very fun and great game…and I say that as someone who disliked Far Cry 1 and 2.
I assume Blood Dragon is good too?
If you lived through the 80s to get the kitschy references and you like the game mechanics from FC3, you’ll probably like Blood Dragon. Myself, the neon pink/blue color scheme gave me headaches but most people seemed to do okay. My 16 year old son tried it and thought it was just weird but then he didn’t spend his formative years watching GI Joe and Blue Thunder.
Far Cry 4 is a great game, assuming you liked 3. It’s pretty much FC3 with all the little issues worked out and twice as much optional stuff to do. Plus a better story.
FC2 is one of those games where people seemed to love it or hate it. It had a few major issues with (malaria, insta-respawning guard posts you have to drive through over and over) and so I expect people either said “This sucks!” out of frustration or else loved it so much that they played it through despite those things. Certainly no one played FC2 and thought “This malaria mechanic sure adds a deep richness to the story”.
