I knew Gary Larson could make me laugh (cat vs. pirhana). I knew he could make me think (cow tools). But I’ll be damned I never EVER thought he could make me cry, well at least get very teary eyed.
There’s this scene in the middle of this movie where this widow wolf is watching old home movies of a trip she had taken with her husband. The projector looks and sounds straight out of the 60s. So we see her in the dark, in a very melancholy state with a little liquor watching this movie. We watch as her husband and her have some typical couple stuff and you just learn to like them and get attached. Hubby seems like a nice guy. And then they find a bear trap the hubby starts playing with it and then well, he dies. We don’t see it but it’s possible it’s on the film. That was just so damn sad.
I saw it a long time ago when it was initially broadcasted as a TV special…I wish I could find a copy to keep on videotape. Or on my computer in digital format.
That was so long ago, I can barely remember it. I do recall seeing the Zombie Tour Bus, though.
Saw it when it was on TV. There’s one segment I still count among the funniest things I’ve ever seen: a bunch of cowboys are sitting around the fire, and they sing “Deep in the Heart of Texas.” The denouement is just pretty much perfect.
I know there are spoiler warnings in the top of the thread, but I really couldn’t dream of ruining this for anyone, even on accident. Get the tape, watch it, and return here and thank me.
true true. I put spoiler because of the shockingly poignant moment at the end of the wolf scene where you now understand why her husband was dead. I figured I’d save that just cause it was so chocking. Other then that it’s just a series of interwoven storylines that are very funny.
Plus there was a thread that concluded it’s better to be safe then sorry.
Not necessarily. I’ve ordered books from Amazon.UK ( they were out-of-print in the US, thus not offered) and shipping was less than four pounds total for two paperbacks, which at the time was probably only a dollar more than it would have been if I’d gotten them from the US site. The real problem would be converting the tapes, I’ve yet to find a place in NH that does it, so I haven’t tried to buy non-US videos.
