Dear People of the SDMB
Some of you may have noticed that voguevixen has been gone from the board now for quite some time. Others have also noticed that she has been gone from #straightdope chat for 46+ days now. I have been keeping in touch with her for a while now, and as of today I have final confirmation.
voguevixen is not coming back.
The reasons why she has left? I will not go into them, because it will start a flame war of biblical proportions. And get really nasty. If you really care about the dirt, ask her yourself via e-mail.
OR, if you really cared about vogue and/or liked her wit and intelligence that she brought here, and would like to say goodbye and wish her luck, please post something here. She does read the SDMB now and again, so she will see it. Alternately, one could always e-mail her too (voguevixen@hotmail.com) and see what she’s up to and how she’s doing.
I don’t reveal e-mails but can say in general that vogue has a lot of fun-sounding IRL stuff going on, and even hopes to be going back to school in the Spring to find a career for herself. She does wish, I believe, that more people would write her or drop a line (San Francisco, I’m looking in your direction…) So please, if you have something nice to say that would like to say publicly, say it here. And if you are one of “that group” that doesn’t have anything nice to say, then keep it to yourself and stay the hell out!
Una Persson
Dear Betsy (voguevixen),
I will really miss your wit, humor, and curiosity. I really liked your solar oven thread, and was very impressed by your effort and your success. Your posts interested me, and your humor made me laugh. And most of all, I really appreciate two things that you did for me.
First, you talked to me with great encouragement and compassion when I was afraid to start on this long path of complete dental reconstruction, and gave me the confidence through your kind and heartfelt words to make that first appointment, and the second, and so forth.
Second, when I told you a secret, you showed incredible warmth, understanding, poise, and friendship; and I will not forget it. You made me feel better about myself as a person, and really made a difference in my life.
I will miss seeing you here, and in chat, my friend.
Una
