Very strong comeback episode. That bit where his wife was finishing his sentences had me in stitches.
Seriously, why do people find this dork funny?
Because he is?
His reviews / sketches are awful
bat credit card!
Glad to see some people on the site like him. I’ve been watching NC for years now, and marathoning a few episodes has frequently taken me out of a sad place. His voice and comedy aren’t for everyone, but I love his facial expressions, and his sheer rage at some movies is cathartic. I was incredibly sad when it ended, but glad that he’s back. I think people expected Demo Reel to be hilarious (and I don’t think it was intended to be laugh out loud funny), and their resentment over NC ending to make room for this new show colored a lot of people’s opinions on it. It was just starting to get interesting (with Donnie’s backstory being slowly revealed), but “The Review Must Go On” was a great way to end it.
I really like some other people on the site, namely Oancitizen. If you like a movie snob who doesn’t mind laughing at himself and the movies that he watches, definitely check him out. I have a bit of a nerd crush on him (he’s just so beardy and huggable-looking!)
Todd in the Shadows and JesuOtaku are good too, although JO hasn’t put out a regular anime review in months, and has recently stated that she doesn’t really want to do them anymore. Ah, well.
So she’s not going to finish her Digimon retrospective? ![]()
That was the only thing of hers I watched, admittedly, but I really liked that.
I haven’t watched all of his reviews, but I don’t think he’s that funny or insightful. I think his reviews are better when you haven’t actually seen the material he’s reviewing. He tends to spin really small aspects to look like there were a bigger part. I sometimes wonder if he really watches the videos he’s reviewing. It seems like most of the time he’s going on the memory of the film. I really lost a lot of respect for him when he got pissed at Thomas Wiseau. I’m not a Thomas Wiseau fan, but seriously way to go overboard. There’s an aspect to Doug Walker that seems “off” for lack of a better term. I wanna say he’s malice, but there’s also a lack of maturity for a guy in his 30s. It ever came out that he has a mental problem, it would not surprise me.
I’ve liked some of the cameos he’s made in Lindsey’s videos. A fifteen second rage joke and then he’s gone? Great. More than a minute? Moving on.
You know that’s a character he’s doing, right?
