Farewell, old friend

Our faithful Bigfoot has been traded in. It took us to Prudhoe Bay and Inuvik; over to Dawson and down to Seward; fishing at Kasilof and down the Alcan Highway; all over the PNW and out to Wisconsin, then back to Oregon. But it was time, damn it, time to go to that used RV lot down the road. We now have a 2010 Pleasure-Way Ford Excel. A van conversion, it’s much smaller, much easier to drive, and easier to park. Me likey. Shakedown cruise to the Oregon coast very soon.

Niiiiice!! My in-laws just got a RoadTrek ClassB, very similar, and they love it.

We looked at RoadTreks also, but liked the fit and finish of the PW. We also looked at the diesel Sprinter platform with the Mercedes engine, but at $10K to $20K more just to have a diesel wasn’t worth it. They always push the better fuel economy, but I can buy a lot of gasoline for $10,000. As it is, my mileage will go from 8mpg with the Bigfoot to 15mpg with the PW. We had a wine and cheese grand opening in it last night with the neighbors.

Yeah, it will likely be soon time for me to get a new vehicle. Mine has over 200K on it and burns oil pretty badly. But I just paid off the house and I’m kind of enjoying the idea of not having debt.

I’ll wait until I’m forced to do something.

Very nice, Chefguy!

Sweet - looks like just the thing for the two of you for shorter jaunts (days/weeks) as opposed to the bigger one which must have been great for longer journeys where you’d have been tripping over each other.

Very nice! Ummm. . .electric sofa?!?

I was all poised to offer condolences on the loss of a beloved dog, cat, monkey, or whatever. But a new vehicle is cause for celebration. Congratulations, Chefguy.
