Damn, you beat me to it.
I think the Viking funeral sounds fine, except I expect the waves would simply push any little boat back to the shore. He was a fine cat, and your stories will honor his memory. My condolences to the Mercotan family.

Sympathy on your loss, Qadrop & elfbabe
I am sorry to hear of you loss. Sending supporting thoughts your way.

No, the dog defers to me (something the cat never did). That duty will fall to our youngest, whom the dog considers a litter-mate. Our youngest took over Fluff maintenance duties once elfbabe moved out of the house.
Thanks, all. No new cat in the near future. We’ll see what the future holds.
I’m still pushing for the viking cat funeral. Since the currents would push any boat back to shore (usually), I’m advocating a huge pyre on the beach, then using the fireworks (we’re talking about the heavy-duty stuff) to launch him into the night sky over the lake.
Depending on prevailing winds, of course. I’m willing to scatter the ashes, just not over the deck, roof, or ourselves.
Yeah, my cat’s dead AND Stephen Harper is Canada’s Prime Minister. Yesterday sucked.
Oh, and I’d better not hear a damn thing about the Rainbow Bridge, either. Anybody who wants to put THAT cat in a magical happy flower paradise with all my other dead pets had better be prepared for him to eat the goldfish, hamsters, and rabbits, vomit their remains onto the bridge, and crap on the flowers. He gave his love capriciously and with absolutely no regard for who really deserved it. He ate things that did not belong to him, like baby bunnies and Easter eggs. He made horrible noises at night and repeatedly caused us to trip over him. When he chose to urinate outside the litterbox, he always did it on my clothing if it was available. He was a real cat, and that’s how we liked him.
That is so sad, I am sorry for your loss Qadrop & elfbabe.
My kitty Velcro is sitting here Meowing and nudging me as I type. Sometimes I wonder if she has learned to read or at least read my mind at least.

Haha. Yes, it sounds like more of a Rainbow High Security unit is needed. It’s still sad aoubt the Merco-cat, but I’ve seen that site and it was icky beyond belief, so it’s funny too.
Like I said in the other thread, that cat’ll be back. Somewhere. Sometime. He belonged to a friend of mine before he came to you.
That cat doesn’t die. No. It just recycles it’s essence through families lucky enough to be blessed by his presence for a while.
He’s a damned nice cat. Weird, but nice. I hope his next family appreciates him as much as y’all did.
