Nice. And I hope that Lars gets the fate he deserves.
Good point
The Oz stuff has been signaled from the beginning and seems to be deliberate, more the book than the movie. Earlier seasons had Oz elements as well. There was a great reddit thread three or four weeks ago that did a fantastic analysis and I am failing to find at the moment matching all of the characters and how they tied in.
Edit: Here it is, posted after the second episode.

He was putting on cologne before his appointment with his “physical therapist”, so it’s strongly implied, but not explicitly shown.
Yes, implied strongly.

I’m really liking this season, I think it’s as good as the first.
To, me, more like S2. I mean S1 had Billy Bob Thornton as the Devil and Martin Freeman.
The “it was all a dream” cop out last epi was a bit over the line.
Mind you, still one of the best seasons. Way better than the last.

The “it was all a dream” cop out last epi was a bit over the line.
I don’t think it was a cop out because the purpose wasn’t to advance the plot, but to fill in Dot’s story in a way that was poignant. It was pretty clear to me that it wasn’t reality, especially by the time of the incredibly elaborate puppet show.
I’ve just binged all this season so far and my 2 big takes are
1 Wales has never been in the Kingdom of England - not in 1522, not in 55 AD and not now. I’m sure this is not important to most viewers, but it nevertheless matters, as the Sin Eater tradition is a Welsh one - not english. (Yes, I am a Welshman) So, to the poster above who said Munch is Scottish, either actually or in ancestry - no.
2 I loved Ted Lasso but thought Juno Temple was miscast as the football WAG. She was nowhere near glamorous enough. I liked her acting well enough but she wasn’t IMHO right for the part. She is fantastic in this.
The puppet depiction of Gator as also being a domestic abuse survivor presents the possibility of him helping Dot in a pinch in the future.
Digging it.

Another historical note that stood out to me–Munch mentioned how in his day freedom was a potato. But he would have been pushing 100 before he had his first potato. Probably should have mentioned another vegetable from his youth.

Well, Henry VIII would disagree after passing the Acts of Union.
I thought the puppetry was an excellent way to show the depth of Dot’s abuse without being exploitative.
This is wrong. Wales has never been in England; The Acts of Union make it in the UK. Many English people would automatically disagree too, but they would be wrong. No-one doubts that Scotland has never been in England yet the myth persists about Wales. Regarding the show, it seeemed such an egregious error to state ‘500 years before - Wales, The Kingdom of England’ - then state a Welsh legend that has nothing to do with England as Wales has never been in England - that it might as well have said ‘500 years before - Canada - in the USA’ for all it’s historical and geopolitical accuracy.
I don’t doubt that only Welsh people are vexed by this, and apologise if this is hijacking - it seemed that the show was making a point about sin eating but got the context wrong.

I thought we got that with a couple of photos - but I agree that the puppetry really - really - told her entire story - including the ‘wolves’ that came before.
Look - they said this is a true story - says so right in the beginning of each episode - they must be right and you’re simply wrong

Okay, the difference is slight and I am sure my ancestors name of Davies would agree.

Football Wild-Ass Guess?
Seriously, maybe the abbreviation makes sense if you’ve seen Ted Lasso, but I have not. Can anybody tell me what WAG stands for in this instance? Got nothing.

Wives And Girlfriends. It’s a football (soccer) term used to describe the glamourous partners of the players.
Ah OK, thank you.
Dang. I was hoping for more Fargo discussion, and instead it’s Wales vs. England and Football wives. Blech.
I absolutely adored the “Linda” haven. Pretty clearly Linda the First didn’t build that whole place single handedly, and the puppet show was a beautiful dreamlike way to show/purge Dot’s trauma. I also agree the “I’m Your Puppet” song fed into her dream.
I just caught up on streaming. So far, this season is giving season 2 a run for its money as my favorite season.
Also, I’m pretty sure the first wife is dead. Not only did she obviously not build the whole place herself, she obviously didn’t get very far (if she got away at all) from Roy. I suspect Roy actually sent Linda away for the first few days as a trial run with Dorothy/Nadine, and then, once he found he could control Dorothy/Nadine to his satisfaction, he straight up murdered Linda and told everyone else she just up and R-U-N-N-O-F-T (have we seen many references to O Brother, Where Art Thou??). But given how he relentlessly he’s pursued Dorothy/Nadine, there is just no way Linda made it out. Not above ground, anyway. Constructing a fantasy where Linda not only made it out, but set up a commune for battered women is just Dorothy’s way of coping with the trauma. Maybe she doesn’t even realize herself how unlikely it is that Linda successfully escaped.

Also, I’m pretty sure the first wife is dead.
This was my wife’s suspicion after watching the episode too. No one just up and walks away from that Paterfamilias.

I really don’t care that the show misidentified Wales as being part of the Kingdom of England.
