Farmers Almanacs for other countries?

The US has about four I always buy in Autumn. According to Wikipedia, “Farmers’ Almanac” also puts out a Canadian one. However, aren’t there any for Europe, the British Isles, South America, Africa, Asia or Australia? I’ve been searching the Net & I can’t seem to find any.

Well, the UK has Old Moore’s Almanack, which may have been a similar publication at one time… it still has some useful info in it, but it’s not taken seriously anymore… (afaik)

I’m not aware of an Australian equivalent, but most of the farmers I know have internet access and get their weather forecasts off the Bureau of Meteorology website. There are heaps of periodical magazines devoted to the rural lifestyle here, though, but they’re mainly focused on one particular aspect (eg livestock, hunting, planting/crops, tractors and utes, etc).

Just looked at the publishers’ site. It seems mainly to be an astrological almanac.

Thanks.

No straight German equivalent, but several publishers sell variants of the Hundertjähriger Kalender, which is based on a mix of astrology and meteorological observation (essentially, that the weather of 1652 to 1658 repeats every seven years, the years being dominated by the Sun, the Moon and the five planets known at the time in turn.) One example. These publications usually also contain a selection of traditional weather rules.
