Those of you in Orange County, CA, who have been looking for the new Farrell’s to open are probably wondering why you haven’t seen any signs of its grand opening yet.
The short answer is that we haven’t even started construction yet.
I talked to my partners last week, and found out the cause of the delay. While I can’t divulge that here, I can say that everything should be cleared up soon and remodelling will begin shortly after all the papers are signed. Based on that, we’re looking at a “soft” opening in early November and an official Grand Opening on November 20th. I’m guessing the actual GO will be slipped into early December (my birthday’s December 1st, so it would be a nice birthday present ).
Anyway, this is teaching me that things take much longer than we imagine, and I’m trying to be patient.
If you have visited the Farrell’s in Santa Clarita (at Mountasia), would you please do me a favor? I’d like to ask you some questions about it, but would prefer to do that in a private email. If you’re willing, just email me and I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can. Thanks.
Are you talking about the Ice Cream Parlour? Why would you make this announcement here on the SDMB? Just curious.
Because we have some RABID Farrell’s fans here, man!!!
Some crazy enough to drive two hours just to hear the drums a-bangin’ and the sirens a-wailin’.
Or maybe it was just for the pixie sticks. I don’t know.
Yer freakin’ me out, man!
Yes, I’m talking about Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours. There have been a few threads on it, most recently this one:
Farrell’s at The Block
It’s a continuing saga of mine, certainly mindless and pointless, but one I thought I’d share.
Interesting… not only am I moving to Orange County in August, I’ve also been to the Farrell’s in Santa Clarita. That’s what you get for living halfway in-between the two, I suppose.
Just so I’m not as horribly lost and confused when I arrive… The Block is that huge center with the giant movie theatre, right? What else is there?
Well, alongside the overprice movie theater and the overpriced arcade, there’s a Virgin Megastore, a Borders, several decent restaraunts (the Alcatraz is good), a Hilo Hattie’s, at least one cigar vendor (helpfully located near an oxygen bar), and various other things that I can’t remember but probably aren’t really worth mentioning anyway.
Oh, and a Krispy Kreme in the parking lot.
Where is it going to be? At the place where the very large shoe store was, across from Dave & Busters? Sounds like a DopeFest coming up!
We’ve had two small DopeFests at Café Tu Tu Tango, across from the cinemas. It’s an appetizer place that has really good eats (my favourite is the deep-fried alligator with dipping sauces) – but plan on spending at least $20.
Market Broiler makes a really good seafood Cobb salad. Rubio’s makes pretty good fish tacos. The Chinese place is pretty good, but you can get a better deal up the street at Hong Kong Express. (Lunch special is about $3.95 for one item, an appetizer – egg roll, wontons or chicken wings – and rice and/or noodles.) You can check out http://www.theblockatorange.com/index2.html for a complete list of what’s there.
Hahaha, that one actually made me chuckle aloud!
Hopefully that DopeFest will wait till August… I wanna go to one!!!
Thanks for the excellent descriptions, guys… but does that place really serve alligator? Sounds like it might actually be tasty!
Yes. It tastes a little like elf. I mean pork.
