Farting in the shower

So why is it that farts in the shower smell much more…potent than farts in “normal” conditions?

I asked an expert and she said that “it’s like farting in the rainforest; the heavier air keeps it from dissapating so quickly.”

I presume she meant the humidity is the factor, but is there another explanation?

There’s a “fart expert” out there? I think we might add that to our “resources” page.
[sub]Unsless she’s just blowing smoke, or full of hot air[/sub]

She might have just been pulling it out of her ass.

Being you take a hot shower, the steam which rises,is mixed with that gas at ass level, then rises kwikly to the old shnozolla, all with one big rush of steam.Better soap that ole boby again afterwards.

Plus you don’t have the filter effect from your clothing.

Hmmm… makes me wonder if soap and shampoo maufacturers take this into account and adjust scents accordingly.

Doesn’t the confined space play a role in this?

I always found the effect to be the exact opposite. My theory was that the flowing water was constantly entraining air and providing ventilation.

In a car on a winter morning with the windows up and the heater running full blast on recirc - now you have a problem.

I always thought it was because the fart molecules dissolved in the water vapour are carried to and deposited more effectively on the olfactory epithelium.

bing-bing-bing, I think we have a winner.

Do you take your showers first thing in the morning? It may just be that the gas in your colon has been “ripening” all night.

Will your body not fart for you? I wouldn’t think that your farts would spend any more time “ripening” over night than any other time.
