Fashion question -- QEII, glamour girl?

According to British Vogue, she is.

I’m not persuaded.

Well, not by the usually-accepted definition of “glamour” (although she was attractive and more of a style leader in her youth, IMHO). I’d describe her today as well-dressed, respectable and well-coiffed. Hardly glamourous.

Oh, I love her fashion-wise! She knows how to rock a hat, that’s for sure. No matter what she is wearing, she always looks like she was born to wear it, which I think is a big part of the glamour appeal. Of course, it’s easy to find photos of her in outfits that are dogs, but I think that’s to be expected with anyone who has been photographed as often and for as many years as Queen Elizabeth.

I get that just about anyone could look that good if they had the same resources and staff as the Queen, and had been doing it since birth.

I love how age-appropriate she is without, IMHO, being dowdy. And the woman owns hat-wearing.

From the books I’ve read, she most definitely was in the 1950s. And if you’ve seen the Annigoni portrait of her…

But boy, she’s looking elderly now. I don’t think she’s as good a dresser now as her mother was.
