Father Ernetti and Chronovision

Disclaimer: I am a practicing Catholic.

The priesthood really only qualifies a man to bless the sacraments and perform priestly duties. He can be a complete boob intellectually and still be a priest in the spiritual sense (he’s able to bless the sacraments validly etc). He can be an incompetent priest bureaucratically (ticks the bishop off) and will end up without a parish or in an isolated parish where he can do no harm. (Father Ted cut close to the bone, sadly).

There are and have been some amazingly intelligent priests who contributed to science (Msgr. Georges Leamitre proposed the big bang theory and here’s more). At the other end there are men who can barely memorize all the unchangeable parts of the mass and not drop the chalice during the mass. This priest was the second kind.

Chief Insp. Dreyfus: “How does an idiot become a policeman, answer me that!”
Insp. Clouseau (with bad accent) “It is simple. He applies, like everyone else.”

Why on Earth did you quote my post at the start of this little screed? It seems to be a complete non-sequitur.

You are right. I apologize profusely. I was going one direction when I started posting then kept rewriting and rewriting and ended up not writing my original agreement with your quote. I should have deleted your quote. Again, I apologize.

I’m sorry you found it tedious.

The million dollars in my bank account may or may not be real; I will not be arrogant enough to declare it one way or the other.

The bank, my dearies… oh, but the bank… How arrogant can one institution be to utterly deny my million without even hearing my side of it?

I see the facetiousness of your comment; nonetheless a lump sum of a million dollars is a tangible thing; possession and/or certain states of mind are not.
