So, you won’t be buying the first season DVD box set, eh?
It takes place in the Secret Garden of Sigfried and Roy, which is an actual attraction/animal habitat at the Mirage. (I could see most of it from my room when I stayed there in January.) The spaceship was just an obnoxious entrance for their big showy introduction of the new panda. White tigers are S&R’s trademark animals, but after the accident it might be considered poor taste. (Plus, I imagine they’d be harder to animate.)
I thought it was funny. Beats the heck out of most of what shows up on network television these days, though that’s faint praise. My hope is that they’ll keep it together with Scrubs and keep both of them in a consistent time slot.
The producers saw my post and ask me to do the commentary, so I’ll probably get a complementary copy.
Well, I just watched it (had it on tape) and I was pleasantly surprised with how funny I found it, given the majority of opinions in this thread. I also thought the CG was sensational, especially that it’s just for a TV show.
I’m with Indygrrl. I think it is about the worst thing I’ve ever seen on TV. I thought the animation was awful. I was supposed to be impressed with that animation? Compared to the CG animation out there it was choppy, and sloppy.
I thought the story sucked, it was childish and totally predictable, it did not have anywhere near the wit of SP or Simpsons.
I was a little put off by one scene. At the end of the scene with Panda girl and her cat. The cat is down on the ground at the knees of Lion King. It looks up at Lion King and says (paraphrase) “What? It’s not like your wife was gonna do this.” It seemed to be implying it was licking Lion King’s balls or something. WTF? Anyone can explain this?
The cat was licking the whip cream that he had sprayed on himself earlier.
Ooooooooh.
Whew.
Thanks, ShadiRoxan.
Actually, there are white lions in S&R’s shows too, they’re just not as prevalent or as distinctive as the white tigers.
I saw it tonight. It’s pretty much what I expected. It’s a sitcom with humanlike animals, and the poster who mentioned John Goodman in a lion suit was very right. The lion even looked like Goodman(unfortunatly, they let him sing).
Unfortunatly, it’s not that good and it sounds like it was very expensive. I got a few chuckles and most of them were at the expense of S & R. (The best joke was one of them spraying all the phermones on himself and then…)I predict they stop showing it in 5 shows or less because the ratings don’t warrent the cost.
I wasn’t going to watch it until I read the review in the local paper about how bad it was, so of course I then had to watch it, and it wasn’t as bad as they said. Not for kids, and a couple really crude moments, but not as bad as some other shows, and the animation was fun to watch. According to the review, the white tigers show up in a future episode, and are portrayed as sneaky and untrustworthy. The reviewer was offended by this.
