Themis,
I’m impressed, that was a relatively well worded point. I don’t mean to sound condescending, but when I first encountered you, I was convinced you were… let’s just say not the sharpest tool in the shed.
I still have to disagree. On a message board, all we have are these succinct little posts to communicate with. Need they be perfect? Hell no, but we don’t have the luxury of the constant back and forth interaction of spoken communication. It behooves us to be as clear as possible. A few typos or misspellings aren’t a problem, and we are all guilty of them, but sometimes they are so prevalent that the meaning itself is blurred. That is a problem, and with the availability of spelling and grammar tools, it’s more a sign of laziness or disregard than anything else.
And for your information, I played varsity sports throughout college and am a 4.0 rated singles tennis player, lest you think I’m some kind of brain in a jar. I’d advise against taking anecdotes you heard in one thread, and projecting them onto different people in another thread.
Maybe so. But have you actually read this kid’s posts, or are you, as per usual, just jumping into a discussion without knowing what the hell you’re talking about? I suggest you page back through this thread and actually read some of faux pas’s posts. Then let me know just exactly what sort of “content” you find there.
So encouraging others to write in a manner easily comprehensible to others is somehow not in keeping with fighting ignorance?
Oh no!!! I’ve been subtley insulted by an impolite special-ed student! I have no valid reason to live!!!
I agree. Mind-numbing stupidity must make life so difficult.
sigh Remember back, before you started posting? Those were some good times.
