Favorite Beastie Boy track

I’m glad no one is saying Fight For Your Right To Party. It was always meant as a joke. They didn’t even like the damn song.

I’ve got to go with “Sabotage,” the only track from the Beasties that I have in my collection. I have always liked the drums on it.

Body Movin’.

No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn.

Paul Revere

Sabotage. And, ignoring the rules, Paul Revere second.

I think you’ll like this video. DJ Funktuall goes through Shake Your Rump, mixing in the original songs the Beasties sampled. It starts off a little slow, but he gets started at the 2:00 minute mark. The guy knows his stuff and is a good showman.

Shake Your Rump Sample Breakdown

My favorite track is “Shadrach” cause it has my favorite line “I got the girlies in the coop like the Colonel’s got the chickens.”

Hey Ladies

Sabotage, probably. With Intergalactic a close second.

But honorable mention to Root Down for introducing me to Jimmy Smith.

Sabotage, with What’Cha Want a close second.

Another vote for Paul Revere.

Wow, I think its one then someone mentions another, honestly for some reason the song in my head all day has been “Intergalactic”.

I am not a huge Beastie Boys fan, but Sabotage is one of the greatest works of art in human history. (as is the video)

Who shall inherit the earth the meek shall
I think I’m starting to peak now Al
Shadrach
Paul Revere
Hey Ladies

That was damn impressive. He’s fun to watch.

Hold It, Now Hit It
Paul Revere
Professor Booty

Then:
Hey Ladies
Make Some Noise
Shake Your Rump

Oh man, tough question. But as tough as it is, unlike a few other people here, I’ll actually follow the OPs instructions and NOT list more than one song…

Okay, it’s not really very representative of their overall body of work, but if I could only ever listen to one Beastie Boy song ever again, I think I’d have to say Namaste.

Shadrach, hands down.

Second would be Make Some Noise, if only for MCAs best line ever:

Pass me the scalpel I’ll make an incision
I’ll cut off the part of your brain that does the bitchin’
Put it in formaldehyde and put it on the shelf
And you can show it to your friends and say “that’s my old self”

No ties? Oh, be fair. For once in your life, be fair! Fine. “Paul Revere.”

And “No Sleep til Brooklyn” and maybe “Sabotage.”

I’m having to seriously hold back from going on iTunes and buying every Beastie Boys album I don’t already own.
