Actually, it’s not rap, but if you take a wider view of hip-hop (as I do) Christiansands by Tricky has got to be one of the best.

My vote is for the entire P.E. It Takes a Ntion of Millions to Hold Us back. No “I’m going to kill you” gangster BS, just straight-up rapping. I’ll take Chuck D over B.I.G. any day.
I’m not much of a rap fan, and I really loathe the newer “gangsta” variety. But I love Public Enemy, Run DMC, and the Beastie Boys.
But my vote for Best Rap Song would have to be Ice T’s L.G.B.N.A.F.. Love that one!

I’ll second Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. I own one rap album (well if you count the Beastie Boys I have three of theirs) and it’s The Chronic.
Definitely “Informer” by Snow. In a slight hijack, I’d like to say that he is IMHO one of the best rappers of the last twenty years or so.
