Favorite Beauty Products??

OK, I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but this thread about beauty obsessions finally made me post this. OK, every beauty magazine usually does some sort of story on editors’ favorite products, readers’ favorites, etc., I love those stories because I almost always read about some new (or old) product I want to try. So, what’s YOUR favorite beauty product? cheap, expensive, home-made, whatever. What stuff can you not live without? Here’s some of mine to start:
[ul]
[li]Prescriptive’s Traceless foundation - awesome stuff very sheer & easy to use. Very goof-proof foundation[/li][li]Prescriptives Magic Powder[/li][li]Carmex lip balm - I use it on my lips and massage it into my cuticles at night[/li][li]Neutrogena pore refining mask - it’s this purple gel stuff but it makes my face feel nice & smooth[/li][li]Baking soda - this makes the best exfoliant for my face. Better than any facial scrub. And cheaper, too![/li][li]Revlon’s Illuminance eyeshadow in nude - four creme eyeshadows in one case. Very neutral, good for every-day wear.[/li][li]Thermasilk Volume and Shine Tonic -I love this stuff too. It makes my hair shiny and adds volume and I don’t need to use other styling products. It doesn’t weigh my hair down, either.[/li][li]Maybelline’s Xpress Finish nail polish -I only paint my toenails, but this is the best minute-dry stuff I’ve used. It’s not as shiny as “regular” nail polish, so I also use.[/li][li]Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat[/li][/ul]

Ok, I’m sure I’ve got more, but that’s enough for now.

Anyone else?

Mine are:

  • Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
  • Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
  • Blixtex Lip Ointment
  • Alterna Leave-In Conditioner
  • Paul Mitchell Foaming Pomade

In the fall and winter I’ll wear mascara and eyeshadow (usually something from MAC or Chanel) but allergies make for runny eyes these days.

Mine:
[ul]
[li] Burt’s Bees lip balm[/li][li] Ocean Potion Baby Block spf 50[/li][li] Clean and Clear Matte Powder (it’s blue, but doesn’t turn your face blue)[/li][li] Jane Curling Mascara (not because it curls, which it doesn’t, but it coats nicely and it’s cheap)[/li][li] Jane mechanical pencil eyeliner in black[/li][li] Maybelline eyeshadow in white (it’s my fall back shadow)[/li][li] Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat[/li][li] probably most of my nail polish collection ;)[/li][/ul]

** JuanitaTech ** -yeah, I’ve used Cetaphil cleanser on and off for years - did you hear about it from Paula Begoun, or have you always used it? I can’t use it all the time -it seems to exacerbate my slightly oily skin. What’s Alterna? Is that a drug store or department store brand? I dye my hair so I’m always looking for a good conditioner.

zweisamkeit I just switched to Neutrogena’s Healthy Defense moisturizer b/c it’s SPF 30 insted of 15 (like the Olay I’d been using), but I never thought of using a sunscreen for babies to get an even higher SPF. I’ve never tried any of the Jane products, but I’ve been reading about them in the magazines lately -supposed to be some good things at a very good price.

I just tried Thermasilk’s new intensive conditioner that comes with a cap - you put the conditioner on, put the cap on, blow dry for a minute or so and then rinse. It was OK, but nothing spectacular. I’m not sure I’d buy it again.

Oh, Ocean Potion Baby Block is fabulous! It goes on like water (even though it’s not a gel) and, at least for my skin, does a decent job of moisturising on its own as well. Plus it has no scent whatsoever. I hate coconutty, citrusy, et al fragrances in my sunblock. The only downside is that it leaves your face shiny for awhile, but that’s where the Clean and Clear powder comes in.

Jane nailpolishes, mascara, and eyeshadows are great (especially for being under $4). The black mechanical pencil liner is wonderful, and some of the other, darker, shades are decent as well. I had trouble getting the light ones to show up though. And if you’re as pale as I am, don’t bother with their foundation; the lightest shade made me look like I had a dark tan (and this was in the summer!). The flavoured lipsticks are pretty good as well.

Miracle Whip is becoming my favorite.

My old standbys are Noxzema, Oil of Olay, and Sea Breeze.
But I order a lot of wonderful stuff from Yves Rocher these days. I give a bunch of it to my mom as well.

  • Carmex lip balm (although I seem to have temporarily misplaced mine)
  • MAC Lip Glass
  • Clean & Clear Invisible Blemish Treatment Gel
  • Dove pump spray deodorant

My beauty staples are;

Miracle Whip mask
UltimaII Glowtion Foundation in Honey Glow
Lancome Definicils
Oil of Olay Total Effects
Clinique Anti Gravity eye cream
Sally Hansen Nail polishes (I refuse to wear any other brand)
Victoria Secret Heavenly perfum
Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue perfume
Lipgloss (any)
Rusk hair products
So many others it’s unreal! But these are the main ones!

I’ve been reading about the whole Miracle Whip thing in the thread about looking younger - I am going to try it this weekend. D’ya think it would work on elbows and knees?

I’ve been hearing about Clinique’s Anti-Gravity cream too. I’ve never tried it, but perhaps I should. I do have their Turnaround cream, but I’m not sure yet whether it’s a staple that I’d buy again.

My favorite beauty product is Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup. Basically it is a finely milled powder that brushes on. I use shade #3 which matches my skin tone. I have smooth skin with some red blotchiness around my nose and some large pores that are quite noticeable. I’ve always had trouble finding the correct shade and formulation in liquid and cream foundations but this bare escentuals is a no brainer for me. I can brush it on as much or as little as I want and I don’t get any lines of demarcation.

My favorite skincare product is Miracle Whip. mcms_cricket, I don’t see why miracle whip wouldn’t do wonders for your elbows. Just make sure to apply a thin layer on dry skin. Wait about 10-15 minutes and gently rub off. You should get quite a bit of dead skin cells rubbing off.
