Cinna-cluster Raisin Bran. Yum! Anyone ever tried a combination of raisin squares and apple cinnamon cheerios? Double yum! And please tell me I’m not the only freak who pours the cereal on top of the milk so it doesn’t get soggy.
frakenberry.
count chocula.
if there aren’t marshmellows in it, why bother?
I like the first bowl out of just about any cereal box, but then it’s like, gawd I have to wait a month before I’m in the mood for that flavor again, meanwhile the open box is going stale in my cupboard, soooo…
I buy the insanely expensive cluster of little boxes of cereals, both the sweet and the non-sweet kinds. That way, I get a fresh box every time and get variety too.
Frosted Mini-Wheats. There is nothing else to eat for breakfast. Nothing else compares.
Crunchy Nut Cornflakes - they make a nice snack while you’re watching TV as well.
I am, once again, going to have to agree with Ike on this one. If you’re going to eat breakfast, by God, eat breakfast.
That being said, I like Cheerios, but not for breakfast. As a wake up in the middle of the night, can’t quite figure out what to eat-type snack, a bowl of cereal is pretty good.
Take it from me, though - never eat a big, stale shredded wheat with nothing but peanut butter on it. It’ll feel like a block of cement in your colon. And yes, I was high as a kite at the time, why do you ask?
Captain Crunch…at any time of day.
Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds followed closely by Post (NOT Kellogg’s) Raisin Bran.
If I’m in a masochistic mood I’ll eat a bowl of Cap’n Crunch. It’s like a loufah for the roof of your mouth!
i once said that if i was ever really poor i could live off cereal and ice cream. i’ve since then proved that theory for weeks at a time. they work especially well together. favourite combos: frosted flakes and vanilla ice cream, cocoa pebbles and vanilla, cinnamon toast crunch with cinnamon ice cream, kix with whipped cream and any ice cream. as for just cereal (no milk of course) honey comb and lucky charms. . . mmmmmmmmm. but if we are talking about lavish breakfasts, a piece of birthday cake is perfect.
Cinnamon Life with Dannon Apple Cinnamon Yoghurt on it. When the local ShopRite had both items on sale at the same time, I bought 50 containers of yoghurt at 10 For $4, and 12 boxes of cereal at $1.75 each.
I’ve always liked Cheerios (Keep the sugar bowl away, heathens!) and Rice Krispies. (What happened to the ones with marshmallows? Those were really good to have once in a blue moon.) I recently discovered Brown Sugar and Oat Total, which I think I could eat three meals a day for the rest of my life. It’s substantial and sweet without being too sweet. Yum.
I love a cereal called Ancient Grains. Fantastic stuff, it is by far the best flake ceral around. However, I can’t get it anymore. It is a Presidents Choice product and the supermarkets that used to carry it here in Dallas got bought out and no longer carry PC products.
I went to their website and saw that you can order products and have them shipped, so I looked into the cost of 2 boxes of the cereal. The cereal was $2.99 a box, not too bad, I was willing to spend six bucks for the stuff. The problem was the shipping = the cheapest option was $14.25 and with delivery in 2-4 weeks. That is insane. Thanks Canada Post.
drools all over herself
Yes. Ohhhh, yessssssssssss.
Cranberry Almond Crunch is good, too.
So is the Green Gables Inn blend of the kind that you find in a little paper bag (talk about expensive – it’s like $5.29 or something).
Gotta have my Grape Nuts (though I do feel sorry for the poor little castrated grapes) with pecans and dried cranberries.
What happened to Team Flakes??
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMMMMM FRUITY PEBBLES! I Love me some Fruity Pebbles!
Amaranth with real maple syrup. Or maybe oatmeal cooked with almonds and raisins, with brown sugar.
Really, my idea of breakfast is more like Ike’s, too. If I have a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast, I’m ready to gnaw my own arm off by 9:00. I’m actually hungrier than if I skipped breakfast entirely. Give me a soft boiled egg and a piece of toast and I’m good until lunchtime.
I second this [sub](Mr. Pol somehow turned it into a nickname along the line…)[/sub] along with Frosted Mini-Wheats & Cracklin’ Oat Bran – you know, the dog food-looking O’s in a blue box from Kelloggs! Dee-licious - but pretty darned expensive.
For snacking - store-brand Cocoa Puffs. Chocolaty goodness without the pesky fat! I also get an occasional jones for dehydrated marshmallows - Lucky Charms, Count Chocula, etc. Hey - my dad works at a/the plant where they’re made!
I’m gonna mix it up a little and say Fruity or Cocoa pebbles. Anyone who disagrees is a pinko-commie bastard [sup]TM[/sup].
Cinnamon Life.
But Annie, I’ll pass on the yogurt, if you don’t mind.
And BlackKnight, Blueberry Morning’s actually one of the less expensive cereals at Lion Food[sup]TM[/sup]. It’s pretty good stuff too.
I love cereal. My favorite is spoon-size shredded wheat. It is absolutely fantastic with vanilla rice milk. Mmmmm mmmm good. I also love corn flakes, cheerioes, any kind of chex. I love uncooked oatmeal stirred into vanilla yogurt. I could live soley on breakfast foods and be happy for the rest of my life. Grits? Yee bob. Cream of Wheat? Heaven.
I must also add here, for you brand-conscious people, that I happen to love all these cereals in their store-brand form.
::Waiting patiently while the gasps die down, and the faint are carried from the room::
Despite testimony elsewhere on this message board (the Raisin Brand thread, if you must know) these brands are NOT yukky nor are they inferior in any way. And I love cereal. The Meijer store-brand of raisin brand is particular yummy. Sugared raisins. Yes. They are.
I do not, however, like sugary cereal. Every once in a while I’ll eat a corn pop or two that I purchase for the judicious distribution to the little Ellenlings but as a rule, it makes my tummy hurt. Give me grain! With rice or soy milk.
Cheap, but not sacrificing taste, I am,
