For me, its a tie between C-Span and TBN.
TVLand
Cartoon Network/The Discovery Channel/The Learning Channel
and Nikalodeon(sp) but only when they show “Spongebob Squarepants”
FoodTV. Me and Mr. Athena are junkies. We watch it all the time.
Used to be Comedy Central, but their movie selection sucks beyond human imagination (Bordello of Blood? Revenge of the Nerds III? Road to Wellville? )
Now it’s Food Network, Animal Planet, FX, & Discovery.
Oooo…has to be a tie between TLC and HGTV.
Incedentally, those would both be on Mr. Sunshine’s Top 5 Most Hated channels list.
If we got FoodTV I’m sure it would be another favorite of mine. I just love Great Chefs!
I must confess:
MTV, VH1, Comedy Channel or MUCH Music. Those are my four biggies. I’m ashamed; I hardly ever watch anything “educational”, except maybe “Trauma:Life in the ER” and that’s mostly just sensationalism.
We love SpongeBob too!
Athena: BAM!
- History Channel
- Discovery Channel
- American Movie Classics
- ESPN
- TBS/TNT
My cable service just upgraded, so I just finally (finally) got Comedy Central. It is right now far and away my favorite, as it has reruns every day of Whose Line is it Anyway? which is right now my favorite show. Also I can finally watch South Park.
With the upgrade I also finally got Fox News and The History Channel, both of which I am checking out.
The History Channel is far and away where I spend most of my time. Sometimes, the Discovery Wings Channel. I’ve given up on the Discovery Channel proper, as well as The Learning Channel.
HBO is the pretty much cable channel that I watch on a regular, weekly basis-I have to get my weekly Sopranos, Oz, Sex and the City and Dennis Miller Live fix. When just flipping channels, I usually depend on A&E, the Discovery Channel and the History Channel for something watchable. I’m developing a fondness for Fox Sports World, because I find myself watching stuff I never even dream of, like hurling.

My “homepage” of channels (the channel my television, or my digital cable box, turns on to) is Cartoon Network. Except for anime, I like everything on it. Other channels include TLC, Discovery, and History. I like Comedy Central, but only for Kids in the Hall, some SNL repeats, and sometimes South Park. Sci-Fi I only watch during Twilight Zone marathons and when they’ll be showing Stephen King’s IT, staring tomorrow. TV Land is a really great one, too, especially since Get Smart was put on there (now only if they took on Twilight Zone).
BBC America!
Sitcoms about vicars and priests and old people! Antiques dealers, magic designers and retirees that SOLVE CRIMES! And always in 50 minutes!
And at least twice an hour you get to see that sexy girl in the ad say “I can’t be on 24 hour litter duty, but my litter mate litter cleaner can!”

Cable? What’s that?
From what I’ve seen at friends’ houses, and from what I remember from way back when I had cable, I’d probably say Animal Planet or Discovery.
And yes, I really have been quite content for the past eight years without cable TV, despite my friends’ assertions that I’m a backwards hick.
Currently my favorites are The History Channel, TLC and ESPN Classics.
A & E
ESPN
Comedy Central
CNN Headline news is really cool… but A&E (Law&Order reruns kick ass!) is great … The TV-Guide channel is the worst channel I watch regularly… Is the USA network actually a cable channel?
yeah… VH1 is cool… MTV sucks w/o Beavis and Butthead (not to mention the lack of music videos…)
