. Kristi Yamaguchi. Something about her is absolutely spell-binding. I think it has something to do with her arm movements.
. Brian Boitano. There was a choreographed movement in his Olympic routine where he flicked a piece of ice from his skate. Thirty years later, I remember it clearly.
. Meryl Davis and Charlie White. So astoundingy sync’d.
I agree about Kristi Yamaguchi. She’s local to where I live, so she shows up often for charity events. She’s just a great person.
The pairs Gordeeva and Grinkov outclassed the competition for years, especially in the Olympics of 1988. I remember that year, no other pair even came close to them.
And, I of course meant that I crushed on JT as she looked in the late 1980s and did not mean she was in her late eighties! :smack:
She’ll still look good I’m sure.
Brian Orser has become a super figure skating coach. How many skaters in the Olympics are being coached by him? I lost count, but at least three, including two of the men medalists.
Orser is my favorite skater ever. I was so upset when Boitano beat him for the gold (even though I’m an American). It’s nice to see how well he’s done. His Wikipedia article has a very impressive list of his current and former students.
