50 IIRC.
I thought Charles Hallahan’s stunt in John Carpenter’s The Thing was the shizznat. It was the one where he pretended to be having a heart attack, then when they were giving him CPR he opened up his thoracic cavity and used it to chop off this guy’s arms. And THEN, he stretched his neck out so far that his head fell off onto the floor. And THEN he sprouted spider legs from his face and scuttled away under a table.
I always thought he should have gotten an Oscar for that one.
I haven’t seen many Jackie Chan movies (well, only “Rush Hour 2”), so take this for what it’s worth.
During a chase scene inside the casino, he approaches the cashier’s gate from the cashier side, leaps and flies feet-first through the slot used to pass money/chips back and forth. The slot looks like it’s sized to fit him perfectly, with very little margin of error.
Oh, I forgot to mention that he had to do it completely on the fly. No hanging onto a pole, just run, slide and keep going.
After the movie, they showed the time he failed to make it through the gate (I believe he didn’t have enough momentum and got stuck).
Not a dangerous stunt, but I admired it in the same way I admired Fred Astaire. He made it look so dam easy, and yet you know it’s not.
Which reminds me of my attempt to replicate a Gregory Hines dance move and ruptured myself, but I’ll save that for a “favorite dance stunts” thread.
I called it sarcasm. That should tell you that not only I thought he wasn’t being serious but that he wasn’t trying to be funny, either.
And what was the point? Sarcasm tends to have a target. Is he trying to show contempt for the OP? It is a perfectly reasonable topic for CS. Sarcasm for sarcasm’s sake? Sorry doesn’t cut it. Seems like a sick joke to me. If you find the horrifically violent death of children while their parents watch funny or ironic, good for you. Since the person who wrote it isn’t replying, it doesn’t make sense to me to argue with you about it.
Doesn’t look like a joke at all to me. YMM-AAD-V.
Then what is it? A sarcastic remark. Directed at who? Doesn’t make any sense as sarcasm, irony or anything else except a sick joke. I happen to like sick jokes. When they are funny. No humor here. Or irony. Or sarcasm. I don’t understand your seemingly random letters.
I said it already. I will not argue anymore. You didn’t say it to begin with.
::: DING! :::: Moderator rings the bell
OK, tracer, your comment was not funny and was, in fact, pretty sick. That’s inappropriate behavior, that I consider very close to that “being a jerk” line. Five demerits, and you’re to stay in your room for the rest of the evening.
Having said that, for the rest of you: personal insults are not permitted in this forum. You may certainly criticize tracer’s comment as being tasteless and sick, but you may NOT make comments about his age, mental acuity, or sensitivity. If you want to lash out at him, start a thread in the Pit.
If you find an inappropriate comment, your proper response is to his the “REPORT THIS POST” button – the little exclamation point in the upper right corner [ ! ] of the post. That will get a Moderator’s attention, and the Moderator will determine what action should be taken (if any.)
At this point, the discussion about tracer’s comment is closed. The thread continues, unabated, with great stunts.
No worries, Dex; I’ve agreed to disagree.
I prefer the moderator hat to the bell but there is no accounting for taste. Lute I hope you didn’t think I took anything personal. If you took offense I apologize. On with the festivities.
