Favorite movie that never existed?

I wish I could nominate Gekiganger, but they actually came out with an OAV after Nadesico was finished. Of course, the OAV hasn’t been released in the US, is that good enough?

Ringworld, from the novel by Larry Niven.

Ubik, from the screenplay written by Philip K. Dick himself.

The Fantastic Four (isn’t in development now?).

And… (please don’t boo me)

E.T. 2 and The Mask 2.

Oops, I forgot Doom: the Movie and Metroid: the Movie.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service starring Sean Connery and Brigitte Bardot.
Heart of Darkness directed by, written by, and starring Orson Welles.

Sack Lunch (Don’t you want to know how they got in there?)

I was going to say The Navidson Record, but man, HAIL TO THE CHIMP, I can’t compete with that.

The Marx Brothers’ A Day at the Races.

But, but , but, I hear you sputter, they made that movie.

Yes, they did. But in MGM’s vaults lie seventeen (17!) earlier drafts of the screenplay, most of which appear to be much, much funnier than the maudlin, lamebrained muddle that actually made to the screen.

I’ve always thought that the best way to make a Marx Brothers biopic would be to make it about the making of A Day at the Races. Think about it. The brothers start at the very peak, with the success of A Night at the Opera. Then in the middle of filming, Irving Thalberg, MGMs executive producer and champion of their pictures, dies. Louis B. Mayer plots hideous revenge against the only people on the MGM lot who ever stood up to him. (Insert flashbacks of them squatting naked in front of the huge fireplace in his office, roasting potatoes on sticks.) Chaos ensues. Teams of writers write new scripts in adjacent offices unbeknownst to one another. They go on tour, testing scenes in front of live audiences, as they did with Night. Here’s where we can show some of the scenes that never made it into the final movie. More chaos as the film is written and rewritten. Finally, huge triumph. Day is a smash hit. But it is also their last hurrah. They will never be the same again.

That’s a picture I’ve always wanted to see.

Star Whores, the pornographic parody of “Star Wars”

I’m gonna have to go with “Buckaroo Banzai Vs. The World Crime Leauge” and “The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel”

How about Rochelle, Rochelle, "A young woman’s

strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk."

I’m partial to documentaries, such as “Someone’s in the Kitchen With DNA” and “Two Minus Three Equals Negative Fun!”
Although I’d kill to see “Dial ‘M’ for Murderousness.”

:smack: No pun intended, folks.

A decent version of The Time Machine. When I make my millions, that’s what I plan to produce. Someday…someday…

The entire plot of the short-lived, utterly ruthless, incredibly funny TV series ACTION centered around the making of a film called Beverly Hills Gun Club, which as time went by got worse and worse–more violent and less coherent, going through two directors and several stars, with one increasingly disillusioned writer. Peter eventually got it made, but we never saw a frame of it.

The caliber of this effort can be gauged by the last scene–the zoo massacre ending with a freeze shot of the blood bubbling on the lips of the dying baby panda

The recent version was decent.

It just wasn’t so much The Time Machine.

What you’re looking for is an ACCURATE version of The Time Machine.

If you get those millions, send me a ticket, eh?

A third for “Buckaroo Banzai Vs. the World Crime League.”

And, both from Terry Gilliam, “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” and “Good Omens.”

What ever happend to the “Fat Albert” movie?

A real, honest version of Starship Troopers with honest-to-Heinlein MI suits and the opening scene of the troopers in capsules dropping onto the Skinnies’ planet. Sigh

Coming Home in a Body Bag and Body Bags 2, both directed by Lee Donowitz from True Romance (although considering the end of the movie I suspect that Body Bags 2 was never finished).

Another for Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League. Also, Taste the Golden Spray from The Big Hit always looked intriguing.
