There have been a few threads lately about “what’s your favorite browser” and the like, and I ended up coming to a simple conclusion: Mozilla can do practically anything that any other browser can do, and many cool things that other browsers can’t, but it sometimes requires plug-ins to do so, and it’s done a piss-poor job about getting the word out about these plug-ins.
So I thought I’d share some of my favorites, and hopefully others will do the same.
First and foremost, the one I’ve mentioned in every recent browser thread, flash click to view . Replaces all flash animations with a big empty red-outlined box. Click in the box, the flash plays. Don’t click the box, it don’t.
Next up we have Optimoz , which brings Opera-like mouse gestures to the Mozilla platform. I’m just getting started with this, so we’ll see how useful I actually find it. I do like the fact that you can enable a mouse trace for the gesture, so you can see what and when you’re gesturing.
Finally, tabbrowsing extensions add a lot of functionality to the tab system, but the only thing I use regularly is “undo close tab”.
Others?
