I’ve always liked Neil Young’s Wondering, but I’m a Neil Young freak. I second Van Halen’s Right Now and Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer.
Not a music video, but I really liked KT Tunstall’s Black Horse & The Cherry Tree performance on a UK TV show. The song is good, but how she performed it made my jaw drop.
The Total Eclipse of the Heart - literal version is pretty funny. I haven’t checked all of the links in this thread, but since nobody’s complained about Rick Rolls, I’ll just say I’m impressed by the SDMB.
Okay, I love this song, but the video is absolutely horrifyingly bad (in a “it was the 80s and we didn’t know any better” way). So bad, in fact, it’s awesome.
All the ones I wanted to mention have already been taken, but I’d like to re-emphasize just how great a song this is, how cheesily funny the video and costumes are, and what awesome players these guys are. Primus sucks!

Oh, good point. I loved that one too. But then, I pretty much loved all the PG videos from the 80s, given that I had an enormous crush on him back then.
That is pretty cool! Way more than I wanted to know about that video, but fascinating. Thanks! BTW, I remember looking up MWH around the time the literal video version came out, and finding something about the “Safety Dance” actually being a sarcastic reference to the backlash against slam-dancing/mosh pits back in the early days of punk/new wave. I have no idea where I found that, though, and I don’t have time to go hunt it down right now.
