What are your favorite music videos?

Mine are:
Beastie Boys “Sabotage” (I can’t watch without laughing)
Beck “Loser”
Peter Gabriel “Sledgehammer”
Those Gorillaz videos
Stevie Ray Vaughn “Cold Shot”
Alice in Chains “Get Born Again”
Pearl Jam “Jeremy”
INXS “Need You Tonight” (I wanted a pet rat b/c of this video)

Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice”. Any video where Christopher Walken dances and flies around a hotel lobby is OK by me.

The full length versions of Smooth Criminal and Like a Prayer.

Can’t beat moonwalkin’ and cross burnin’.

I agree but did you ever see the uncut version that MTV wouldn’t play? It’s even funnier.

“Bad to the Bone” - George Thorogood
“Black Hole Sun” - Soundgarden
“Sledgehammer” and “Big Time” - Peter Gabriel
“November Rain” - Guns N Roses

I know I’m missing many others…

Taaaaaaaaakkkke onnnnnnnn meeeeeee! I’ll beeeee gooooneee…

By Aha.

“Ana Ng” - TMBG

Smack My Bitch Up - Prodigy.

There are plenty I’ve liked, but the one that’s always stood out for me is “Runaway Train” by Soul Asylum.

Stand and Deliver : Adam Ant
Babooshka : Kate Bush
Come to Dady : Aphex Twins
It’s a kind of Magic : Queen
Frozen : Madonna

are some of my faves.

Thriller: Michael Jackson

Deep Forest’s Sweet Lullaby, exquisite.

Mazzy Star’s Fade into You

Metallica’s Unforgiven

off the top of my head.

Ooh, ooh! Can I go again?!

Talk Talk’s It’s My Life

Midnight Oil’s Beds are Burning

Rockit - H Hancock.
Sign o’ the times - Prince
Weapon of choice - Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook)
Hey ya - Andre 3000 (Outkast)
I want a fat babe (BSB spoof)
Freedom - George Michael

and the very best:
Buddy Holly - Wheezer (directed by Spike Jonze)

Here are some new favorites.
A repetitious Flash animation Staring the 8th Doctor and Romana. According to the BBC it is a: Dance Video: Romana vs Kylie
Who’s Lord High President of the Dance Floor?

It is taken from Clips of the Flash animated Shada and the song is “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” by Kylie Minogue.

Also, an awful lot of people are sure to enjoy athletic girls in skimpy aerobic costumes in:
Call On Me by Eric Prydz

They are dumb, but they’re fun.

Peter Gabriel may have the best overall collection of videos of any artist. His great ones include: Shock the Monkey, Sledgehammer, Big Time, Steam and Digging in the Dirt.

The Talking Heads: Road to Nowhere, Once in a Lifetime, Love for Sale and And She Was.

Frank Zappa: Don’t remember the song but the video was claymation on acid (or was that me?)

Pretty much any video directed by Spike Jonez - a couple have already been mentioned - Sabotage and Weapon of Choice. There is also Praise You which was great.

I also like some animated videos like Do the Evolution (Pearl Jam), Clint Eastwood and 19:2000 (Gorillaz), Runnin’ Down a Dream (Tom Petty) and How to be a Millionaire (ABC).

White Stripes - Fell in Love with a Girl. Watching it I was struck by how incredibly clever the whole thing is.

P.J. Harvey - Man Sized. She has immense amounts of charisma. Three minutes of film and you fall in love with her. She won’t return your calls though, so don’t bother. (How do you measure Charisma? In Clintons?)

REM - Everybody Hurts. <Sniffle>

Beta Band - Square. A clever retelling of the Bucket of Bricks Accident Report urban legend.

Lucas With the Lid Off by Lucas

and

Virtual Insanity by Jamiroquai

I don’t think I’ve seen a music video since Alicia Silverstone did three of them for Aerosmith. Those are my favorites.
