My favorite Simpsons character: Gil, the Hapless Salesman. Poor, poor Gil just can’t catch a break. Of course, making him my favorite Simpsons character invalidates his premise, so I’m going to have to replace him with Dr. Nick Riviera.
“Why, it’s my good friend, Mr. MacGreg, with a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg!”
And I dont just love Lisa cause she’s a girl. She’s my alter ego. My husband made my brother laugh chip dip out his nose when he said “Lisa is SO like your sister”
My favourite minor characters? List is too long to give, but comic Book guy usually makes it up there.
If I can pick anyone, it would be Troy McClure. In fact, A Fish Called Selma (Troy marries Selma) is my all time favorite episode of any TV show in history. One great line after another. “Smellen of Troy.” “Sure I love you! Like I love Fresca! Isn’t that enough!” (Sadly my wife would not let be put this in my wedding vows). The Planet of the Apes song, “He’s a washed up actor. He should be dating washed up supermodels.” Etc, etc. The show Jumped the Shark after Phil Hartman died.
Homer is my favorite Simpson, followed by Lisa and then Bart. Lets not forget Herb the long lost brother, either.
I don’t know that I like ANY of the characters in the sense that I’d want to know them in real life, but each of them has some endearing trait. I’ve listed them in order of who has the funniest storylines, but I can’t really say I have a clear “favorite”.
Homer: Undying optimism (I know he’s the one who said “Trying is the first step toward failure,” but he’s continually trying some venture or another and not letting his total lack of success beat him down.)
Bart: His devil-may-care attitude
Lisa: Her commitment to rationality and skepticism (although it’s actually irrational and dogmatic, considering she exists in an illogical universe with a highly interventionist and unsubtle diety)
Maggie: Her initiative in educating herself (I’m sure Marge and Homer didn’t teach her to spell – or fire a gun, for that matter)Marge: Her unwaivering love of her family despite their faults (except for those episodes where she waivers)
Abe: His… actually, he’s a thoroughly unlikable old sod.
Funniest supporting characters/walk-ons, in order:
Nick Riviera: “Hello, everybody!” I don’t know why it’s funny, it just is.
Sideshow Mel: His last appearance or two have been letdowns, but he had some great moments.
Martin: “The summer breeze…”
Troy McClure: “Gay? I wish!”
Least funny/most annoying:
Squeaky-Voice Teen
“Yeesssss?”
Former favorite who needs to get over it:
Smithers: Dude, you ARE out of the closet.
