Favorite SNL Recurring Character?

Stuart Smalley was played by ** Al Franken, ** half of “Franken and Davis” comedy team, and a long time writer on SNL. Also author of “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot”

Eddie Murphy characters period

“I’m Gumby, damnit!”
“WHOISIT?”

Gumby tops them all. Fabulous stuff. Eddie Murphy playing Gumby as an old Jewish stage trouper when the camera was off was a stroke of sheer genius.

Tom Hanks’ Mr. Short-Term Memory.

“oh, a color tv, I’ll take one of those, and…ooh, ooh, a color tv, I need one of those.”

“…and now here’s your chance to win $1000.”

“Oh good, I really need a color tv.”

Mr. No-Depth Perception

Middle-Aged Man

The Super Fans (“Da Bears!”)

…and my all-time favorite (who I dearly with they would bring back) is… Toonces, the Cat Who Could Drive a Car.

“Makin’ copies!” Eeeee I love that one.
Also notable: Mr.Subliminal and thank you rastahomie for jogging my memory for Toonces!
Umm…yes, Church Lady, who we would be lost without.
MORE TO COME!

The SuperFans!

“OK… da Bearsss versus Mario Andretti in da Indy 500. Who wins?”

“How can da Bearss be in da Indy 500?!”

“Well, let’s say dey’re in da Bearss bus.”

“Is Mike Ditka DRIVIN’ da Bearss bus?”

“Yeah. Ditka drivin’ da Bearss bus, vs. Mario Andretti.”

“In DAT case… Ditka and da Bearss bus by 5 laps. No contest!”

I don’t like any of the current recurring characters.
All are based on the same thing - people so lame they bore everyone. Bore me too.

What happened to Bulushi-types, where the recurring character was funny? A samuri in the city, or a big bee?

Lately, I love the piano player in the band. The first few bars of the closing theme is the signal that the torture is over, and the cast can stop being unfunny now.

Connery’s great, gotta love dieter, how about simon (cuz u know my name is simon, and i like to do drawings…)

Norm McDonald’s Burt Reynolds and David Letterman impressions are hilarious! Burt Reynolds wearing the huge foam cowboy hat on Celebrity Jeopardy was so funny! “Yeah, it’s funny because it’s, you know, bigger than a, uh, normal hat.” I don’t know exactly why it seems so funny, it just does. His impression of David Letterman was even better than Burt Reynolds. "So this guy walks up to me and he says, “Uh, you, uh, you got any gum?” “Ah-HAHAHA!” “Ya got any gum?” Funny how his voice never actually sounds like anybody but Norm McDonald.

I don’t care what you say, Phil Hartman was the best Bill Clinton.

For some reason, I always liked Opera Man. I don’r know why, I think Adam Sandler is a total dumbass.

I liked Adam Sandler’s rock concert-going character, you know, the guy who’s always getting beaten up at the concert. I just love how he winds up describing the concert’s acoustics from his position at the bottom of a dumpster.

Sean Connery: I’ll take The Rapists for $200, Alex.
Alex: That’s Therapists…

Alex: Welcome back to Celebrity Jeopardy, where we must once again ask our contestants not to use ethnic slurs.

Sean: Oh, ye think ye’re so shmart, Trebek, with yeer Dego mustache and greeasy hair!

Alex: What did I just say?

Drawing from many years back… LOL

-Any Gilda Radner character, but especially Roseanne Roseannadanna  “It’s -always- something!”

-The Jon Lovitz Liar character, which was a Conan O’Brien invention, btw. “My wife, Morgan Fairchild… yah, that’s the ticket!”

-Land Shark!!! Who made a special guest appearance tonight!!!

-I’ve always loved Garth.

My favorite all-time skit, I think was this one with Tammy Faye Bakker, Leona Helmsley, and Zsa-Zsa Gabor (all were “in trouble” with the law at the time!) breaking out of jail! I was ROTFLMAO at that skit; it was probably not as funny as I remember, but I’d love to see it again.

tarragon

I can see, by the position of the sun in the sky that it’s time for me to post.

Women, you can’t walk with them, you can’t walk without them (suspicious glances cast on Lovitz’s character).

For I am Lothar, of the Hill People.

  • Jimmy Fallon as Nick Burns the computer guy
  • Chris Farley as one of the Super Fans
  • Chris Farley as the motivational speaker
  • Will Ferrell as Janet Reno
  • Darrell Hamond as Sean Connery
  • Darrell Hamond as Bill Clinton
  • Chris Kattan as Antonio Banderas

Tom Hanks as Mr. Short Term Memory (counts because he played it on several different occasions - ooh he’s a five timer)

Mr. No-depth perception
Dieter (now is the time on Sprockets when we dance!)
Simon
Martha Stewart - just because I find anything mocking this insipid lady hysterical!
The Night at the Roxsbury guys, although the movie was not funny.
But my personal favorite is Mango, because I know a guy who is exactly like him! No, I am not kidding. Ponder that!

Oh yeah, I love Nick Burns. “MOVE!” :stuck_out_tongue:

Opera man is kind of funny in a weird, obnoxious way.

Oh yes, and Will Ferrell (or is it Darrel Hammond, I always get those two mixed up) as James Lipton. The best part is that he isn’t really exagerating that much. "And in 1995, you did a film that changed the course of movie history. That film was “Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style.”

Rocky Balboa and Mr. Bojangles form Dog Show.
