Favorite Sports Results of 2017

What were your most memorable sporting results of 2017?

For me, #1 was definitely March 25: Oregon 74, Kansas 60. The Ducks not only beat but dominated the top-seeded Jayhawks to advance to the Final Four for the first time since 1939.

The other two that come to mind were both Tottenham Hotspur matches:

April 30: Spurs 2-0 Arsenal. Spurs clinched finishing above Arsenal for the first time in (cough) years. A high point of a very satisfying regular season that ended with a second place finish, making possible…

November 1: Spurs 3-1 Real Madrid. The high point of a sparkling Champions League group stage that saw Spurs win the “Group of Death”.

Easy for me, The Cleveland Indians American League (and arguably MLB) record, 22 game winning streak.

Number 1 is certainly game 5 of the National League Division Series, when the Cubs eliminated Washington in the deciding game. It was very sloppily played and lasted forever, but the Cubs advanced. Unfortunately they crapped out against LA in the NLCS.

The Patriots scoring 31 unanswered points at a game in early February.

Nashville reaching the Stanley Cup final. As summarized by Twitter’s @wholegrainne:

This the remix to Ignition
Anaheim Ducks edition
Took out Ryan Johansen
Got beaten by Colton Sissons

[Sissons had a hat trick in the deciding Game 6, won by the Predators 6-3.]

The Bills finally breaking their playoff drought.

Thisone.

Pittsburgh Penguins winning their fifth Stanley Cup, becoming the first team to win back to back Cups in almost 20 years, and the first team to do so in the salary cap era.
(Yeah, like you didn’t see that coming)

World Series game 2, World Series game 5, World Series game 7.

The Las Vegas Knights winning their first game was awesome.

The Stealers losing to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game. Wait…dammit, that’s going to happen in 2018, not 2017!

Geelong 13.10 (88) def Hawthorn 12.13 (85) – Round 17

More specifically, The Catch by Edelman.

Federer, Wimbledon, 'nuff said.

Yes indeed!

LA Rams 11-5

This is pretty hard to top.

The Dodgers losing the World Series.

Was there something dissatisfying about Game 3?

That one was good, too, but 2 and 5 were crazy insane back-and-forth wins and 7 of course was the clincher.
