Subway (yes, we have lots of them in Bangkok): Steak and cheese, foot-long, double meat, extra cheese, pickles, onions, green peppers and Southwest sauce. Just had one last Saturday!
What they call around here a “Number 1”: Ham Salami and Provolone with Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Oil, Vinegar and Oregano. Usually I will order it light on the ham, heavy on the salami and extra oregano.
Listen, man, mayonnaise is god’s way of telling us he loves us and doesn’t want us to choke to death on a dry sandwich, so he in his infinite wisdom gave us that tasty sandwich lube. Slather it on and praise him!
Me too. I have digestive issues. Had my throat and stomach checked with an endoscope. GERD They put me on omeprazol. Helps a lot, but I can’t eat spicy anymore. That means no pepperoni or other spicy deli meats. I miss them.
There was a chain back home in the Midwest called Samuel Mancino’s. They had a vegetable grinder that I just loved - peppers, olives (green and black), onions, mushroom, cheese, the usual. But something about it made it tastier than any I’ve had elsewhere. Some days I really crave one. And I always swing by to grab one whenever I make it back home to visit.
The all cheese. Usually not on the menu, so I have to pay a premium. Every type of cheese, with lettuce, onion, oil, and vinegar. It’s my go to sub sandwich.
I don’t know what my favorite is. Maybe tuna. For me, my main opinions for subs are a) I don’t want *vegetable subs, and I don’t care for lettuce. Other than that, I’m pretty cool with everything else.
*If I’m going to eat a salad, I’d rather just eat a salad with a side of bread, not a salad sandwich.
My absolute favorite Italian sub is a Moe’s regular Italianwith oil from Moe’s Sub Shop, they’re a tradition here in southern sea coastal New England
It’s a simple sandwich but they use some form of witchcraft to elevate it’s tastiness far beyond what it should be, it’s not the oil, because a “dry” Moe’s Regular is still astonishingly tasty
When I first moved/lived in Altoona, PA a few years ago, I discovered the Sheetz on 17th and 220. Man I miss their subs.
In fact, their whole menu and ordering system were astounding.
Nothing like that here.
Subway definitely takes hind tit to Sheetz. So does Quiznos. So do the majority of mom n’ pop sub shops I’ve tried. Their coffee bar is at least the equal of Starbucks to boot. The only thing they don’t offer is seating in most stores and, because of our retarded-ass laws, PA stores don’t sell beer and wine.
