Favourite covers of Beatles songs

You won’t see me, Anne Murray. I like this better.

Come Together by Aerosmith, of course. Squashes the original like a grape IMO.

Wilson Pickett’s cover of Hey Jude, backed by the Muscle Shoals band and Duane Allman. And Joe Cocker did a bunch of great Beatles covers. I’m not sure which one is the best, but I guess With A Little Help from My Friends is the easy choice. And Jimi Hendrix’s brief covers of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band are worth hearing.

Geez, there are so many. Here are some notable ones not mentioned yet off the top of my head:

“Strawberry Fields Forever” - cover by Hayseed Dixie
“And there ain’t nothin’ to get hung about”

“The Inner Light” cover by ROSEGARDEN
This is my favorite non-album single (B side to “Lady Madonna”) Beatles’ tune.
“That Means A Lot” cover by PJ Proby
I don’t think The Beatles’ version was released until Anthology 2 in 1996.
“Helter Skelter” an a capella cover by The Bobs

“Revolution 9” live cover by Phish
Phish covered the whole White Album for that matter

I am the Walrus by Spooky Tooth.

I hate most Beatles covers, but for some reason that one works.

Not actually a Beatles song, though, their version is a cover.

Oh, and let’s not forget the original Beatles version of Stairway to Heaven, as later covered by Led Zeppelin.

Oops…wrong link. Here’s the correct one
“The Inner Light” cover by ROSEGARDEN

Hey Jude.

Carbon Leaf does a great cover of Dear Prudence. They have a studio version of it in the iTunes store.

Excellent cover-- better than the original, and I’m a huge Beatles fan.

Also, I agree that Fiona Apple does a very fine rendition of Across the Universe.

I like the Fiona Apple version, but I prefer the one by Rufus Wainright.

By the way, I hadn’t heard the Junior Parker cover. AMAZING!!! Thanks.

Earth, Wind & Fire absolutely ripped up Got To Get You Into My Life.

Who knew Dr. House had a kickin’ falsetto!

Oops. Can’t forget I Am the Walrus by Styx.

Happiness Is a Warm Gun-The Breeders

Here are two I really like:

“I Am The Walrus” by Oasis

“A Day In The Life” by Jeff Beck

Todd Rundgren and Peter Frampton do excellent versions of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

The Farm Beetles dared to take some of the Beatles’ songs to a different place—a very, very bad place—with such tracks as “Bertday,” “Yisterdie,” “Hilter Skilter,” “Revolution # Niner,” and “'n the End.”

Wow, lots of Tomorrow Never Knows covers out there…here’s Phil Collins’. Not my favorite, but the first Beatles cover I was aware of as a kid, thanks Mom.
