Standing at the crossroads, trying to read the signs
To tell me which way I should go to find the answer,
And all the time I know,
Plant your love and let it grow.

Why are we here?
Because we’re here,
roll the bones.—Rush
“Those were the days my friend, I thought they’d never end”
by Mary Hopkins. Ah yes.
Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight-
Gotta kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

I don’t know why but the begining of that song gives me chills
Up on cripple creek, she sends me
If I spring a leak, she mends me
I don’t have to speak, she defends me
A drunkard’s dream if I ever did see one…
Up on Cripple Creek by The Band
A bit homier than most that have been posted so far, but them’s some wonderful lyrics–a beautiful sentiment and a triple double rhyme!
“Lucky my breasts are small and humble
So you don’t confuse them with mountains.”
Hey, they can’t all be deep and meaningful - this one makes me laugh.

Another one from Coldplay:
“For you I’d bleed myself dry”- Yellow
Robert Palmer, Simply Irresistable:
“She’s so fine, there’s no tellin’ where the money went”
Not a great song, but what a lyric.
There are any number of more worthy songs, and lyrics, that have actual gravity to them, that also come to mind (by Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Prince and others) but when I read the thread title, that lyric came to mind.
Always nice to meet another hip fan. Good choice of song too!
“And you’re restless, but I’m naked,
And you’ve gotta get out, you can’t stand to see me shaking.”

There’s no motivation and frustration makes him crazy
He makes a plan to take a stand but always ends up sitting
Someone help him up or he is gonna end up quitting”
