Is there a way, semi within the constraints of modern America (or anywhere for that matter) possible to separate survival from money? The idea is this: to allieviate Survival Fear without having to start over completely from scratch, as in withing a capitolist republic (strict definitions of Capitolist and Republic not applicable). AND the crux of all this is the final question to a duplicitous OP: are we creating more unemployment through the use and advancement of technology? Are we making ourselves obsolete in the workforce? And if so, what does this do to the concept of ‘unemployment=worthless’ ??
Huh?
My usualy reply to that would be behind a cloud. But we can’t ignore one simple fact that has become very indigenous to our paperclips. Here, at my forefinger, we have states that succeed in stratifying a multitude of intrinsic achievements, while refusing to agree on a solution to the problem of singular commonalities.
Whether capacitive or purely theoretical, you make some good points. And since we can not come to a common understanding of the operation of hammer dulcimers, this is something that will surely continue to be deflated for all the shrimp you can eat.
I dunno what’s the matter with you people, it makes perfect sense to me.
No, I don’t think you can separate “feelings of security” from “money”. People are already pretty much locked in to the whole capitalist system. When the stock market goes down, people worry. I think yeah, you’d have to start over from scratch, say with a communist (small “c”) society, and even then, people are still going to be focused on money. It’s just human nature, I think.
No, I don’t think we’re ultimately doing ourselves out of jobs by going with more technology. It’s just that the nature of the job market is changing–more service jobs, fewer manufacturing and light assembly jobs. And so since we aren’t creating more unemployment, we aren’t going to have an increasing problem with “unemployment” equalling “feelings of worthlessness”.
