Yeah, I was confused as to who got killed and whether the Connor group knew that those “pirates” remaining on board were overthrown. They could easily retake the boat by threatening to execute Travis and his the daughter.
But generally I thought this was the best episode so far this season.
All the remaining pirates were killed as far as I could tell.
I don’t understand why they left the boat in the first place since the whole attack was about getting the boat. If they have some safe location they’re returning to, why is the boat so important? If they’re rounding up the rest of their people to take them to the boat, why didn’t they just bring them with Connor’s group in the first place or why don’t they take the pirated boat back to their people? Is Travis going to be used to repair a bunch of boats?
Why do they automatically assume the rest of the group has no value? Travis fixed the boat, but they didn’t even ask everyone else if they have any valuable skills before deciding who was worth taking with them.
It just isn’t making sense so far and I’m really hoping the explanation in the next episode somewhat makes sense.
I rewatched it: Pregnant chick and Jack left with Connor and Travis/Alicia, leaving three pirates on board the Abigail - Nasty guy, and a couple of pirate redshirts; a girl with red hair and a balding guy. The redshirts were sniped by Nick’s new friend and the nasty guy got a crowbar unrealistically rammed through his guts.
So, all pirates left on board the Abigail are dead. Other pirates are still alive and have Travis/Alicia, so rescuing them will be the next item on the agenda.
I too am confused about the Mexico situation. Did their authorities keep their shit together while ours crumbled? Is their criminal underworld’s international network of agents managing to hang together even while our military loses all discipline? Is the outbreak not hitting them, or hitting so lightly that it’s worth their time preventing refugees from entering 7,000 km of coastline rather than creating internal safe zones?
I didn’t find it surprising. Mrs. L.A. thought he was a spy or something, and she was disappointed. I always figured him as an excellent con man.
I don’t think this needs to be in a spoiler box since the thread title clearly says open spoilers. (Why not have an ‘open spoilers’ thread where every post is in a spoiler box? )
Nevertheless…
Technically yes. But I don’t think Strand is gay. I think he’s A) fulfilling his obligation to Abigail; and B) Running a con on Abigail.
That was an interesting episode. Still don’t know how the zombie outbreak started but Strand’s backstory cleared up a few questions about how our intrepid band of survivors ended up where they are. Strand is a thief and a con man. And probably a salesman. He’s also the only one with an actual plan. Strand works for Abigail and let everyone assume that he owned the multi-million dollar home and yacht. He didn’t lie but he didn’t tell the truth, either. The flashback could also explain why Stand chose to take the good looking, sexy, young, druggie Nick with him during their earlier escape from the military lockup. Or not.
Strand did try to defend the boat but Daniel “the El Salvador torturer” Salazar sabotaged Strand’s rifle/magazine. Oh well, time to abandon ship. Every man for himself.
The pirate king took Travis because he has some value, he can fix boats. But he didn’t question the rest of the captives??? Just how chatty has that girl (Alicia?) been over the marine radio?
It will be interesting to see how ol’ man Salazar handles the last pirate’s death threats against his daughter. I don’t think that will end well. Or soon.
