February makes us shiver with each new rant it delivers

Maybe suggest to that nurse-manager that she should mention to your state licensing board that perhaps he hasn’t kept up with the CE required to keep his license. She would know how to report it. If your state is like Illinois, they take the doctor’s word for it that they’ve taken CE each year - unless someone suggests otherwise, then they start looking for documentation.

It’s my one-year writing anniversary, and for a variety of reasons, some related to the state of the writing and some not, I am sad. Sitting here sniffling at my computer over it.

If you know a writer, be nice to them. Very few people are.

AWWWW!!! Come here and get some (((huggles))).

Writing is hard work. You have to come up with a story line, plot it out and then write an entertaining story to fill up all the pages. Not to mention the grammar and spelling stuff.

What do you write? I’m quite sure that non-fiction is much harder than fiction…but not being a writer, I have no idea.

To Lacunae Matata can I add my HOLY SHIT to that? Totally not acceptable, not even vet visits.

SeaDragonTattoo What sort of person steals litter boxes. I mean seriously. You work in a cat shelter, everyone else there works in a cat shelter. That’s lower than stealing someone’s lunch from the common fridge. Good gawd. :smack:

(takes all the hugs she can get) I write novels. Novels that I like a whole bunch. It hurts, how nobody else loves your kids quite as much as you do, y’know?

Novels? You write whole books out of your mind? That’s seriously amazing. I’m being honest here, that sort of creativity is amazing and should be encouraged. I can’t even write a short SF story, even though I see the whole thing in my mind.

If you gave me one of your books and I hated the genre, I’d still read it and say nice things about SOMETHING. People like you are the ones who fill the library shelves. There are a whole lot of things I don’t read, but other people do.

Writing is a labor of love. I do get what you meant about the “nobody loves your kids…” part.

Offers Sattua more (((huggles))). I think that you are amazing and I’ll bet that your novels totally rock.

Well, to be fair, I don’t think they’re “stolen” as in someone else took them home. I think someone opened the boxes without looking at the label - with my name on the TO part of the address - and put them somewhere as if they’re for the shelter. I just can’t figure out where and I’m really hoping they didn’t get put out for use. They would be a pain for the Caretakers to clean every day because they’re so much bigger than the shelter pans - I would think they would check with their supervisor before using something so different - but weirder things have happened.

A couple supervisors think maybe they got put in the outside shed - the Caretaking Supervisor is in tomorrow and she will check there.

It’s confusing, I guess, for people who CAN’T READ SHIT, because I order Clinic supplies from a bunch of different vendors, and I get boxes and boxes of stuff every day/week. As a shelter, we also get donations from our Amazon Wish List - those labels are just addressed to the shelter, no EMPLOYEE NAME on the label. So it’s not unusual for me to get shipments in Amazon boxes, that aren’t actually for me - but also DON’T HAVE MY NAME ON THEM.

The kicker is that I often leave stuff in the hall and nobody touches it for the entire week I leave it out there. Caretakers just clean around the boxes, cats hang out on top of them. I guess these were pretty big boxes so someone thought they were “helping” by putting them away. Never mind the FUCKING LABEL ADDRESSED TO ME, and never mind the INVOICE INSIDE WITH MY NAME AND CLEARLY NOT A GIFT.

ARGH!!

Will storage rental places provide dumpsters for clearing?

Novels with endings and everything? You have my respect. That is a seriously difficult thing to do.

You do? All I’m good at is settings… then again, I probably have spent too much time in TV Tropes and Cafe Society. I can’t write about two people looking at each other without criticizing it a lot more harshly than if it was somebody else’s writing.

Hugs Sattua. I thoroughly enjoyed your books and am patiently waiting for the next installment. Please persevere.

Thank you flatlined,** Yllaria**, slumtrimpet. Everything seems better in the morning. I need to lay off that writers’ board for a while. They’re seriously vicious, and it’s cutting into my productivity and enjoyment :stuck_out_tongue:

Depression/anxiety triggers FUCKING SUCK. I was going to be productive today, but it looks like I’m going to be sucked down that fucking black hole of depression again.

Go away, depression and anxiety. I DON’T FUCKING NEED YOU.

I’ve just started working on a novel and I envy anyone who can finish one. Hats off to sattua!

EmilyG: any way to channel how you feel into music? Like EricClapton did with Tears In Heaven? Is that a thing?

ETA: Around 4 pm EST I am meeting some friends for a few beers. I’ll drink one to you.

knock knock
Hello? SDMB? I have a small box here with the following items: Hugs, chocolate, booze, kitten purrs, and sunshine – please share and distribute accordingly.

Assaults the chocolate

I’m not taking it all, promise.

Here, let me… adds a just-opened bottle of Yule Brandy to the box

We used to do that when handing out prizes in an online game I played a long time ago. If you got an upgrade, you’d give the old item to add to the bag. It made handing out loot a bit longer, but it also meant that more people got something.

That’s funny, all I got was a rather large box with some litter pans in it.

To my darling beloved: I understand you are trying to help me feel better. I understand that you want me around for the rest of our lives. I understand that I am overweight and need to do something.

However, when I’m telling you I’m depressed - bad depressed - telling me I should exercise may not be the right solution. I’m having trouble getting out of bed to go to work. Going to the gym just isn’t an option right now.

Only the first is in any way a good idea. The rest are BAD.

Is this a paid or volunteer position?
