Fed up with Teacher Hate and Disrespect in this Country

Last year, most schools started 10-14 days earlier than the kids. Teacher work days count as well - what do you mean, ‘not counting teacher work days’? Of course you count teacher work days as work days!

Uh, neither do teachers.

And I spent the 4th of July in Big Sur. So?

In DPS? Doubtful.

Hoo, boy. I guarantee that the only parents pushier, whinier, more obnoxious, and determined to raise Junior’s grades by calling the teacher at home and bitching than the ones we have now are ones who see an immediate financial incentive to do so. That sort of a plan would trigger massive grade inflation.

Our moron state legislators decided that workdays were a waste of taxpayer money, and in a feeble attempt to smokescreen their slashes to education, increased the school year by removing 5 workdays and turning them into instructional days. Thanks, guys! Because on workdays, we all sat around eating Cheetos and watching America’s Got Talent. We didn’t plan units and lessons, catch up on organizing our papers, analyze student performance, create new materials, do report cards, and did I mention planning units and lessons? We’ll DEFINITELY be better teachers without all of that work!

Or is the assumption that we’ll just tack those 40 hours of work onto our already full workweeks?

There’s plenty of evidence about what works to get good education:
-Recruit academically-strong people to be teachers.
-Train them thoroughly and rigorously.
-Pay them well.
-Give them plenty of time to plan.

I advocate doing these things.

Hey LHOD, could you bottle those sweet, sweet bitch tears for me? I’m getting tired of syrup on my waffles. Thanks.

Man, what took you so long? Maybe too much syrup on your waffles is making you loggy.

Then be a professional. You chose to be a teacher despite the low rewards. Don’t bitch about your decision now (or, if you choose to, at least bottle your sweet, sweet bitch tears for me, per my request above).

After teaching for 22 years in Santa Barbara County (the highest on your link), I’d certainly hope to be making more than $100k.

If you think teaching is such a cushy profession, one has to wonder why you haven’t switched jobs. Just think of all that sweet, sweet tenure you could have! Just think of those short workdays and those long summer vacations, all on the public teat!

Hell, you’re just throwing your life away! Why not march on down to the local school tomorrow and demand some of that cheese?

Try reading for comprehension. The teachers get all the same days off that the kids get for Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break. They have to work on the teacher work days while the kids have off, so I explicitly excluded those days from the calculation.

Continuing Ed credits don’t count toward step increases anymore? News to me.

No, not DPS.

He had to do a search on me to see where else I was posting. Dude lurves me.

Yeah . . . I make that each year sometime in March. Here pretty soon I’ll make that in January.

Maybe teachers who want to make more money should, I dunno, do something else where they could make more money (I know, crazy idea).

Nope, just lurve the bitch tears.

You got any more for me? Maybe a parent was mean or something?

Do you ever get tired of masturbating publicly to the declarations of how much money you make?

Well, sure looks like a big no on that one, don’t you think?

And that’s the only reason your wife stays with you.

I guess you can’t buy class, after all.

 Thanks guys. Got any more? Surely I’m a bad parent, too, right?

Who gives a shit?

You apparently did just 9 minutes ago.

ETA: and then again 2 minutes ago.

The bigger the professed income, the smaller the penis (and the bigger the dick). This is a Universal Law.

About your parenting skills? Or your irrepressible urge to be as much of a dickhead as you can whenever you get the opportunity? Nobody’s opinion on this place matters to you, yet somehow you’ve been allowed to troll this board for the entirety of your tenure here. I can only hope the anonymity of the internet has served to let the disgusting parts of your personality out so nobody in real life has to deal with what a small man you really are.
