Feeling of Accomplishment - Do Something Thread July

Come and get encouragement to do those creative (or non-creative but necessary) projects that you’ve been meaning to do for years.

  • Projects can be anything. While we’re in Cafe Society, which implies certain things, and while I encourage you to work on creative stuff, whether writing, art, gardening, whatever, many of us have projects that don’t fit that really need to be done. So do them anyway! And tell us about it!

  • You don’t have to finish in a particular time span, but this is to encourage you to set aside time every week to work.

  • We encourage you to post pictures of your progress.

  • Encouragement, suggestions, and constructive criticism is all welcomed. For criticism, may I suggest the Oreo method? Say something nice, give the critique, say something nice, e.g. ‘I love the colors! But if you cropped it a little tighter it would look stronger. It’s so pretty!’ Or whatever.

Continuing projecters: What are you working on? What have you gotten done? Any pictures?
I made progress on going through my storage unit. My mom’s boss took my file cabinet, which opened up space for me to be actually able to work. I need to buy different drawers for my kimono so I can bring them home.

I’ve also been drawing again. Got a few drawings done for a story series I mean to get back to and did some practice on drawing heads.

I have several musical projects I need to finish.

  1. First and foremost, I MUST get all the tracks laid down for this demo, and finish the mixing and mastering. It’s going to hang over my head like a lead weight until I do it.
  2. I really want to build my first guitar amplifier. I have the chassis of a blown-out Fender Champion 600, and I’d like to build in a Blackface Champ circuit, hand-wired (no PCB’s, etc.)
  3. I have a Washburn shredder guitar I need to finally rewire and send off to a needy guitarist friend of mine. It needs some pretty significant hardware work, but I have all the parts. I just haven’t gotten around to putting them all together.
  4. Oh, and my poor, sad Ampeg amp with a blown transformer. I really don’t have the money to put into another transformer, but it’s such a cool amp…

Yaaay, thank you for this thread. I finished the epic leaves from the last thread, all sent in and ready to be published. Now I’ve got:
A new species of commiphora to cut into very small pieces (fun!) and illustrate
A beautiful succulent plant of mine that’s just about to flower, that I want to do a proper painting of
An orchid exhibition in September, for which I need to paint at least one orchid
So I’ll be busy.
