Feets! "Be Clean"

Do you actively wash your feet in the shower?

Or just let what crud flows downward to clean them?

I guess you can figure out what side I’m on.

:foot:

Huh? Lightly running water isn’t going to remove dead skin and stuff. Of course you actively wash them.

Apparently it’s a Thang.

Umm. Not in my world.

I hate showers. Give me a nice soak in a good hot bathtub any day.

And yes, I don’t think showers clean your feet properly…

There was a thread on this maybe a year ago. I don’t do any separate foot washing in the shower; I guess that means I’m awash in dead skin. Oh well.

Same here.

In an incessant pool of your own filth?

Just kidding. Nothing like a good soak.

But bath or shower I run the bar of soap between each toe and on the bottom of my feets. Few things lack class and style like feet and theys need to be clean.

I scrub them with a loofah and brush under toenails every night. It’s separate from showering, with a little wash in for them.

When I’m having a bath, I rub between my toes, and ‘stuff’ comes out. Toe Jam, as Mr Lennon said in Come Together: “he got toejam football…” (rolling it up into balls, I suppose)?

Baths for me. Showers if I have to when traveling…

Well, yuck.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I do something similar with a washrag lathered in soap.

If they get particularly dirty for some reason, which happens occasionally, mainly during the mud season here in Montana, I wash them thoroughly in the shower with soap and a hand brush. I wouldn’t want to get my bed sheets dirty. Otherwise, a thorough rinse in my morning shower is all they need. Nobody has ever complained about the cleanliness of my feet.

Same here. When I show people my feet, they just run away. Sometimes making loud wordless vocalizations. But never any complaints.

Reason I brought this up:

We have two nasty pre-teen boys here. I have smelled some nasty awful things in my life. But this is beyond the pale.

Their everyday school sneakers cannot be inside the house. We have a bucket in the garage for their shoes and dirty socks everyday.

I’m not sure either would be safe from exploding if in a closed container.

My Mid-dau has tried everything. Today she went and bought new shoes and socks for both. Put the old ones in the burn barrel.

Febreze and Pooph do not work. Charcoal nightly inserts? Useless.

Airing as often as the boys weren’t wearing them, helped a tiny bit.

But, no. They still stunk to high heaven.

My advice to her, in her limited ability to supervise showering at their age, make sure those dawgs are clean. Spray with deodorant, liberally. She got one of the new Deos, a yellow bar of dial soap. A bottle of some medicated soap the pharmacist reccomended. And he told her to make sure they don’t have a fungus going on.

She’s found they could take Lamisil pills for a couple months if that’s the case. Doesn’t really want to go that route.

Why do boys just smell so bad at this age?

I live in a warm place year round, and rarely wear shoes and if I do theyre crocs. I wash my feet in the shower, yes. I do have “outside” shoes i wear w/out socks. I put a handful of borax in them & it helps w/ the smell

A little of both, from time to time. Bending down is hard for me, so often I just use the shower spray on a high-pressure setting along with some liquid soap to do a sort of car-wash type rinse. But I will also occasionally use a scrubber brush, actually intended for dishes, but which does a fine job of scrubbing off dirt and miscellaneous residue.

“Toe jam” seems to be a thing of youth. I haven’t had any such thing in many decades. Maybe due to environment, maybe metabolism … who knows. A good soaking in soap and hot water is generally all I need, sometimes with a little scrub brush.

But then, of course, remember that I have furry paws, not feets. And I don’t know how many toes, because as a dog, I don’t know how to count.

I got this shower mat that had suction cups on the bottom. The top was rubber grass stuff. It had some drainage holes.

The idea was liquid soap on the mat, rub your feet in the rubber grass. Sparkly tootsies.

Except it didn’t work so well with gel type liquid soap slipping through the drain holes. When it started moulting rubber hairs and nasty stuff grew underneath…

Yep. In the trash.

Me too. Yes I use wash cloths, but generally I’m just a becky doing becky things.

I rarely wash my feets with soap.

I mean, they’re really far away.

mmm

I actively wash everything. I mean, since you’re in there, you may as well be as thorough as possible.
