Fehr and Selig were able to tell congressional committee that they were in the dark when steroids began to take over baseball.
Miguel Tejada will probably be thrown into the fire. He very likely will face charges for lying to investigators. Selig is satisfied that the Mitchell report is accurate .Although it falls way short of proof, he is willing to accept it as factual.
I am not happy with this. Yes I do believe that many players took steroids. But, it requires more than rumor to convict. If they don’t flunk a urine or blood test can you punish them?
I don’t see how he can punish anyone who hasn’t copped to it, unless its someone who the feds go after for lying and they get proof they lied. I see now where Clemens has agreed to testify in private, meaning he’ll admit to it and no one will ever know- unless there’s another one of those infamous leaks.
I would though, think proof of purchase of drugs that don’t show in the system would be enough to punish- like a check with “HGH” written in the memo field
Gosh, Clemens gets to testify in private? I’m impressed. They granted that to Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. Did they say if they would forgo swearing him in? That’s an honor afforded to a privileged few.
