Feistymongol, you racist jerk!

Do you remember what the thread was titled? I would be willing to do a search for you to find this.

No, I don’t have specific examples and I don’t find that it’s worth my time to go spelunking through the search engine to dig everything up. Of course you’ll all deny that a white person has ever been racist on SD unless I do so. However, now that I look at it you’ll twist and turn my arguments every which way anyhow to try to gain the moral upper hand.

All this boils down to basic animosity towards asians in the U.S. I think it all originates from America’s past war with asian nations. There’s a deep underlying distrust and anger at asians that manifests itself. Whenever an asian person speaks out it’s considered “offensive” because whites are taught at an early age to be aggressive towards asians and view them as the enemy.

Feisty, are you telling me that you’re making accusations concerning my inability to locate your racist remarks but you HAVENT READ MY OP!?!

Christ. That’s like me saying that you havent made any valid points and the following it up with “Okay, I haven’t actually read anything that you’ve said… but I still maintain that you’re wrong.”

You would shit puppies, wouldn’t you? You would scoff at my ignorance, wouldn’t you?

Cite?

It appears to me that YOU would be the one talking out of your ass… as you gave a very vague sort of “Well, we all know it happens all the time” answer when Lady of the Lake posed this question.

Oh, that’s right. This is me… HAMMIN it up. Leave it to a thin male to have to get a pig reference in there. You’re obviously using the word “hamming” to keep me in my place as an overweight white woman with a weird nose. WHERE’S MY GUNNEZ?! I THINK HE’S GONNA TRY TO ATTACK ME WITH HIS IGNORANCE!

I’m not “hammin’ it up”, I’m fighting ignorance. That is what we’re here for, ya know?

That seems to be the gist of it, coated in some rather half-assed evasion.

Word of advice, Feisty, just because you don’t explicitly state that you have a persecution complex doesn’t mean that you don’t have one. In nearly every single one of your posts you’ve said that racism against Asians runs rampant in this country, even going so far as to say that it’s NOT SAFE to be ASIAN in AMERICA and that you carry a firearm in anticipation of an assault upon your person. You anticipate an attack. You accuse people of attacks.

Smacks of a persecution complex to me.

But then you’ll never admit that because I’m cutting right to the heart of the matter and you feel uncomfortable because it’s true.

She. Why should SHE repost…

You’re disgusting. Fucking disgusting. This has NOTHING to do with Asian people. The rest of us are just fine with Asian people. We don’t accuse them of being something they’re not and we don’t expect them to be anything other than what they are.

I work with a few Asian people that are… well… just like me. Except that when we talk about where our great, great grandparents are from, we tell different stories.

I love, love, LOVE Chow Yun Fat movies. Not so much the Crouching Tiger genre, but I am a huge sucker for anything involving CYF, John Woo and a couple of 9mms.

Margaret Cho is one of the people I admire most in Hollywood. She’s down to earth and she brings up alot of gender/weight/race issues with Hollywood that most people aren’t ballsy enough to bring up.

I don’t care for Connie Chung. She doesn’t seem to have much of a personality.

I can’t stand Lucy Liu… or anyone who’s ever set foot on the set of Ally McBeal, for that matter.

I’m not familiar with the other girl you’d mentioned.

But I don’t look at ANY of these people as “the enemy”.

I look at YOU as “the enemy” because you and people like you (KKK, Neo-Nazi’s, Farrakhan, etc) are keeping racism alive and well and making the rest of us humans look bad.

So here’s a hearty FUCK YOU for making me ashamed of my fellow man.

Oh, you think that one’s funny? How about this one:

Pure art, man. Pure art.

And before you start screaming about how I’m another whitey trying to keep you down because you’re speaking up for your long-oppressed race, you should know that I don’t give a fuck about whether or not you’re a racist, and I don’t care if the points you made are right or not.

What matters to me is that you’re a jerk. Plain and simple.

Due to popular demand i’ll respond to malkavia’s OP.

**

Racism in itself is powerless if you aren’t part of the majority. Racism only has power to oppress if you are on the top of the “social” totem pole to begin with. A black person can’t actually be racist and neither can an asian person. They can be “prejudiced” certainly but racism also involves having the power to oppress. That’s why terms like “honky”, “cracker” etc… have no real weight in American society. There is no power to oppress with those terms.

**

What a fascinating and well formulated argument. I’m taking notes right now, really.

**

True white people don’t have a patent on “racism” per se but in the U.S. minorities don’t have the power to oppress via racism. See what I stated above.

**

I didn’t backpedal I offered an explanation as to what I meant by those comments. Obviously my explanation didn’t meet your imaginary criteria of what I supposedly meant so you went off on your own tangent. Keep putting words in my mouth and interpreting your own meanings it’s fun.

**

This is what i’m talking about, this has absolutely nothing to do with the argument and I never even implied this in any of my arguments.

**

Sigh.

**

Perhaps I was a bit coarse in my reply but at the time his demands annoyed me. I don’t like being ordered around by anyone I don’t respect. I replied in kind, I suppose if I were a white male noone would have said anything. But it seems I upset the social order by defending myself. Just like how the slave wasn’t supposed to talk back to the master back in plantation times.

Keep telling yourself that. Let’s be honest ok? I’m an outspoken assertive asian male. I’m white America’s worst nightmare because i’m not afraid to speak up on issues. As soon as a minority speaks up on some injustices in society there is a panic while the majority scrambles to maintain the status quo.

Yeah i’m a jerk for speaking up. I suppose if I was a white male saying the same things you’d be giving me high-fives right now and praising me on a job well done. Just be honest about what you think it’s easier.

:wally

Makes herself copy the phraise ‘Malkavia is a woman’ ten times. I do apologize! It’s when they stopped letting us walk around naked that things go more confusing!

Okay Fiestymongol,
I’ve done a search for the last six months centered around your name.

Is this the thread?
Silly thread about American men being ‘popular’ with women from other cultures

If not, I’ll move my search farther out. I would REALLY like to find these threads that are A) holding racist comments by many SDers and B) You are told to Lighten Up when you express concern.

Mainly because I won’t believe your claims againt the SD without some proof…I’m willing to look for this proof because you seem upset and feel persecuted…but I am looking, I admit, for my own knowledge. (okay, as I said…I don’t know if I believe you)
Now, this is Off Topic, but I must mention something…

In this thread:
Thread about ‘Asians taking American Names’

You say:

You DO realize that my sister has lived in Japan (going to marry a nice Japanese man) and she felt in some ways she was never fully accepted, she states she will always be a ‘Gaijin’, a ‘foreigner’ no matter her name after marriage, no matter how long she has lived there. Because she is white.

Does this mean the ‘Japanese’ are out to hold her down and keep her seperate from their culture. No!! A few Japanese people may have trouble accepting her, and this bothers her, but she knows that it is not ‘The Japanese’. Nor do I think you should be assuming that the ‘White Americans’ are out to get you here.

In both cases, in the U.S. and in Japan some people have trouble accepting those that are different, and it can be very difficult to deal with…BUT…it is not ‘White people’ or ‘Japanese people’ in nice big ol’ generalized heaps doing this…

No, i’m bringing up issues that are relevant that noone wants to talk about because they are too sensitive. I already stated that there is a very clear boundary in the U.S. of what a minority is supposed to say or do. The few people that cross that boundary usually get killed or ostracized. People such as Malcolm X were visionaries in pointing out injustices in a no nonsense fashion. Being that i’m an asian person with little to no political representation when I speak up it’s a clear signal for whites to attack. Why is this? It’s because you think i’m a vulnerable target that will back down because I have no visible political support. There is no NAACP that supports asian civil rights. If I were a black or white man arguing the same points you’d mostly likely conceed the truth. However, it’s always in the status quo’s benefit to maintain the moral high ground. Thus i’m immediately demonized by this group for my viewpoints.

**

Wait a minute, wasn’t I flamed for saying the same thing? I said I had white friends but immediately that was discarded as being fictional and I was accused of using it as a shield for me to vent this so called “white-hating” racism.

**

That’s great i’m happy that you’re interested in novelty asian kitsch marketed for the white mainstream audience.

**

Margaret Cho is a caricature of an asian-american. She parodies the issues and mocks the racism but in the end people will never take her seriously because she’s a stand up comedian. Imagine if an asian male was doing the same standup? He’d get assaulted or possibly killed like Vincent Chin. That’s because Margaret Cho is also a asian-american FEMALE comedian thus she’s more palatable for the white mainstream. It’s not a challenge to the established white male status quo as it would be if an asian male was saying the same things.

**

How am I “keeping” racism alive? I’m pointing out what already exists.

Shheesh what a fucked up thread.

I am a sensitive Asian
No one understands me because I am so deep

Yeah, yeah…everybody knows us white males all get along and agree about everything. We learned that in the Country Club you couldn’t join.

OK, you want me to be honest about what I think? I think that you’ve got severe problems differentiating between some guy who called you “Charlie Chan” once back in the 80s and the majority of white Americans. Most of us don’t give a fuck if you’re a kung-fu master or a Kinko’s Manager.

Sure, you’re bringing up these issues. It’s not that people don’t want to talk about them because they’re too sensitive–people don’t want to talk about them because all you’ve given are foam-flecked assertions with nothing to back them up except for your own rantings. People don’t want to talk about them because people don’t believe you.

Give us something other than vague anecdotal evidence which shows that Asians, as a group, are being repressed by the white man in America. Give us statistics, give us news articles, give us cites. Don’t give us paranoia, don’t give us empty rhetoric, don’t give us prejudice which states that because you’re in the minority, then that means the majority is automatically against you.

See, if you stand up and scream “Everybody’s staring at me!!!” then you can bet your ass people will stare. It’s one of those self-fulfilling prophecies you hear so much about. But they’re not staring at you because you’re Asian. They’re staring at you because you’re a fucking nut-job.

Now–don’t you have a ward to get back to?

They’re not my friends. I don’t go out of my way to point out how I hang out with people of a different race. I’m just stating that the only differences between us that are spawned from race seem to be that we tell different stories about our great, great grandparents. But I’ll even give you that. It doesnt take knowing some Asian people to know that I’m not racist.

God, you’re snobby. Who doesn’t like CYF and John Woo?! How could you NOT?! There’s guns and jumping and great acting and Chow Yun Fat has those lips… swoon

How American of a market can it be if it’s not in English? You’d think they’d take that into account while trying to entertain us Americans, wouldnt you?

Can you give me some examples of real Asian film? Because honestly, I’m at a loss here.

Boy, you just got the raw end all over, didn’t you?

Look, buddy. I know you’d like to think that you’re obviously the most discriminated against minority EVER in the HISTORY of the WORLD… but Margaret Cho is Asian, Female, AND above the acceptable Hollywood weight. She’s overcome ALOT and if you don’t think that she’s taken seriously, I urge you to rent “I’m the One that I Want” I guarantee you that not a person in that theater walked away without seriously feeling what she was laying out. I know I had tears stinging at my eyes when she talked about the press conference where she was asked if the Network had made her lose weight to play herself and her agent said “No. There’s no truth to that whatsoever.” when she had done everything she could to lose weight and been called names and malnourished and over-exerted to the point of hospitalization. You can talk whatever shit you’d like to about your pitiful situation as an Asian male, but don’t you DARE tell me who I do and don’t take seriously.

And when she talked about trying to sell her movie script but the guy who told her that she could make it as a screenwriter… but she had to sleep with him first… I felt that like a fucking hammer through my skull as well.

As a woman, I could totally relate. I’ve been in similar situations (feeling that I’m only adequate so long as I’m willing to put out)… but ya know… I would NEVER make the blanket statement that most men are like that and are raised to make me feel worthless… and if something sounded like that and a gent asked for a retraction and an apology, I would be FIRST in line to offer both. There are shitty people in ALL walks of life, buddy.

I also notice that “comedian” wasnt listed as one of the “acceptable Asian careers” by you. Does it make you uncomfortable that Margaret Cho is breaking up your misconceptions?

Do Asians have detachable penises, too?

As much as I would hate to wade into this kakagoria, I feel that I have to speak up partly in defense of Feistymongol. While his tone and particular axe to grind may not endear him personally, many of the issues of racism against Asians resonate with me. My Japanese girlfriend has described precisely the same things to me, from Hollywood representations of Asians to Asian male/female sexual stereotypes to day to day mistreatment and abuse. And like he said, there’s no NAACP for Asians.

I’m willing to cut the guy a little slack. Maybe if his back’s not up against the wall we can explore these issues with a little more sensitivity.

Asian-American scapegoating in the defense industry

China spy scare: The return of the “yellow peril”
By Martin McLaughlin
27 May 1999
The spy scare in official Washington, touched off by the release of a
congressional report on alleged espionage by China against US nuclear
weapons facilities, is both reactionary and dangerous. There is an
ominous resonance with the McCarthyite witch-hunt of the 1950s in the
sweeping and completely unsubstantiated claims that “our vital national
secrets” have been stolen, and the racist scapegoating of Asian
immigrants and Asian-Americans as suspects.

Fair enough. Thank you for posting those.

Now for the $64,000 question:

How does this mean that the majority of whites hate Asians?
And does this mean that it’s right for you to be as hateful as you’ve been?

There is a comedian here in Australia of Vietnamese origin Feisty, who takes the piss out of everything, and in the process challenges the stereotypes you are so fond of perpetuating in this thread. It is often through humour that we are able to get some real perspective on the ‘issues’…that people ARE basically all alike, and that when we share a laugh with someone it has an incredibly humanising effect. It forces us to take our prejudices ‘seriously’ because we realise just how ridiculous they are. Never underestimate the power of humour as a way to challenge the status-quo. Oh, and he hasn’t been assaulted or killed.
