Whooshed how?
If she watched it? The microwave would snap, crackle, pop and spark like a mother fucker.
If she turned it on and walked away? Eventually the microwave would burst into flames.
Entirely metal implements - most metal spoons/forks/knives have a plastic sheath to protect the stirrers hand.
Right. And if you make the mistake of accidentally dropping a metal fork (as in for eating, not stirring) into the pot, DON’T touch it until it’s cooled off. Er, not that I did this recently.
She put the pan in the microwave and walked off. (She lived down the hall.) I was in the room and eventually heard the noises of sparking off the metal and a weird smell, not quite burning but electrical. As I walked up to the microwave, I saw little arcs of lightning forming between the metal of the pan and the sides of the oven. If I hadn’t stopped it, something would have blown up, I’m sure.
My son, the genius, once tried to re-heat KD by putting the saucepan in the microwave.
(Said saucepan had a metal screw attaching the wooden handle to the pan). He turned on the microwave, after inserting the pot (with a spoon in it), and left the kitchen.
The metal rim of the pan, the spoon, and the screw in the handle, arced something wonderful, alerting us to the problem in the microwave. The handle of the pot charred instead of bursting into flame, as we got there in time.
“I didn’t know it would do that,” he said, in wonderment.
He was about 12.
I wish I could have afforded a king sized bed in college. It wasn’t easy banging two chicks on a twin-sized bed.
