It’s that time of year–papers, exams, projects. In addition to candy canes and Rankin Bass specials.
Anyone else looking forward to handing everything in and having a break? I definitely am–my last day is December 15, and I’ve got about two research papers and two other shorter papers due. Almost done with mostly everything, and can’t wait till the 15th!
I’m not studying, but there’s a university right across the road from my place, and the end of year exams finished last week. So things get a lot quieter now over the summer break and we have three months’ respite from students until the new academic year starts.
My wicked professor just assigned a 12-page paper today based on a 200-page reading. TODAY. We have ONE more class period before the final, so it’s due Wednesday. We had no warning for this (in fact, my friend missed class, so I’ll have to call her and let her know this lovely bit of news).
I finish next Wednesday. There’s a lot to do before then, but I can’t wait. I’m way, way beyond ready to be done.
Piano jury, choir concert and 20 recital attendances are all done.
Teaching methods notebook, professional ed interview, voice jury, four keyboard labs, one piano proficiency test, two standard written exams, one MacGamut (aka MacDammit) exam, one conducting-in-front-of-an-ensemble exam, two one-on-one exams (ear training and diction), and 10 hours of public school classroom observation hours to go until then. Eep!
Our last day of exams/classes is officially the 21st but since all my classes this semester are online, I’m not sure exactly when it’ll be.
I can’t wait for the 21st. I have spent the last week suffering from a major sinus headache and it’s making me really tired and bitchy. It’ll be nice to have a month to just relax and do all the stuff I’ve been neglecting for the last 3 months - like cleaning my house and taking care of myself.
That is absolutely inexcusable. I rarely ADD unscheduled work to my syllabus, unless it’s extra credit (a rare occurrence) or some how replaces other work, and I would NEVER add something this large so late in the semester.
Envy me. I’m done - we start pretty early in August, so our last day of classes was today. All work is graded, all grades are calculated and posted on student-accessed websites for them to review and let me know if I’ve made calculation or data entry errors. I’ll submit official final grades tomorrow. Then, I don’t see students for six weeks, and don’t see my campus for five weeks.
I am going to spend at least one day this week drunk. I haven’t decided which day.
I always forget that for teachers, it’s over later–they’ve got the reading of papers/exams and grading to do. So when we’re finishing our final papers, the last leg of the journey is just beginning for them. Godspeed, IvoryTowerDenizen!
It’s finals week for me. I had my only in-class final last night, and I have a take-home final due Thursday, which I’m almost halfway done with. I think the worst is behind me.
First exam was today (bombed it), second is tomorrow (I’ve already passed the class) and the third and last is on the 13th (Mickey Mouse course). I have an on-going year-long project with some work due on the 21st as well, due to our client’s schedule. My team mates plan to meet on the 14th to get that done.
This is the earliest I’ve ever finished exams - usually I end up with one on the last time slot of the last day, so I’m pretty happy. Winter break this year includes my sister’s wedding and her new puppy as well as Christmas and New Year’s so I can’t wait to get done!
Done on the 15th. Only two classes. Last paper for one class is due tomorrow at midnight. 10-15 pages not counting title and reference pages, and I figure I’ll start that eventually, maybe, here later today… if I get an A on the paper I’ll have an A in the class, and I have yet to get anything less than a 91 on an assignment I submitted on time. And yes, I procrastinated just as beautifully on all of those.
And then my last exam for the other class is next Wednesday at 5 p.m. Final outcome for this class can vary wildly based on how well it goes. But it’s multiple choice, and no matter what happens I’ll be done with my first semester of graduate work by 6:50 p.m. in 8 days!
Going home tomorrow! I have an early morning exam first, but I’m not too stressed about it. Today’s was the one I was really nervous about, and it was just as difficult as I expected. However I’m mainly just relieved it’s over.
