Does anyone know of some good PHYSICAL and free (or very cheap) kids activities or clubs in the Seattle area? Preferably South King area?
I’ve googled Head Start programs and such, of course they’re all closed today as it’s a holiday. I’m hoping maybe some of you who live in the area and have little kids may know of something.
Thanks in advance,
Mods, I’m hoping this is more of an opinion thing than a factual question thing, as one parents “good things to do” might not be another parent’s, or grandparents in my case.
PS…Boys and Girls clubs is out as my granddaughter is only 4.
I’m not in Seattle but my local library has a pretty full roster of things to do on their property. They have magicians, story times, movies and crafts on a fairly regular basis. It even has a petting zoo and fair once a year. Here in my area, it’s nearing ‘fall festival’ time- look in your local and/or community papers for church fairs. We also have a couple of amateur theaters nearby. A project for smaller kids can usually be found there. “Fun, Fair, Soccer” type clubs aren’t too expensive if I recall. Maybe the YMCA or a local community center has some things going on. Gymboree’s a weekly paid class, I’m pretty sure. As would be gymnastics classes.
Are you looking for friends, kid-only activities, mommy and me classes, just free stuff or educational things?
I’m looking for things that are primarily physical and will help wear out a little girl who has WAY too much nervous energy. No, no, really! I know I’m an old granny, but if you look up “fidget” in the dictionary, you’ll see this grandkid’s picture. She really REALLY needs some physical outlets. In addition, (for those of you following the story), she’s just had a huge traumatic change in her life.
The short of it is, her mom (my daughter) and dad are likely going to get a divorce, barring some phenomenal miracle. I don’t know the area at all though, since I only just moved here not quite 2 months ago. I was hoping some Seattle-ites might have some inside knowledge of some places to go. And yes, I’d like them to be as low cost as possible, though I’m willing to pay what I can if/when need be.
Maybe take her to Southcenter if its still there. Walk around the mall and window shop. Get into the Christmas spirit with her. Also, if you are not too far take her to the Woodland Park Zoo. Sure it costs but maybe free for kids and a discount for senior citizens?
