Female country singers are great

The Pistol Annies cracked me up with this one:

Hush Hush

Of course, Miranda Lambert is a troublemaker:

Only Prettier

Kerosene

Grethen Wilson is quite … fit:

California Girls

Ah, The Band Perry. I love Kim Perry so very very much. The first time I heard this song was on the radio, having never heard of this band before, and I honestly thought I was hearing, finally, a black female country singer. So I was really surprised when I looked up the song on YouTube and discovered she’s actually a blue-eyed, blonde, white girl:

Hip to My Heart

If I Die Young is still one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Some great lyrics here:

“Lord make me a rainbow, I’ll shine down on my mother
She’ll know I’m safe with you when she stands under my colors”

and

“A penny for my thoughts, oh, no, I’ll sell ‘em for a dollar
They’re worth so much more after I’m a goner
And maybe then you’ll hear the words I been singin’
Funny when you’re dead how people start listenin’”

OTOH, if isn’t wasn’t strange enough to hear a gay man singing about how his molestation at the hands of his nanny turned him into a connoisseur of large female posteriors, how much more disturbing is it to hear Kim’s younger brother singing the song while his big sister shakes her gloriously plump bottom for the audience?

Fat Bottomed Girls

Then there’s Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland:

Stay

God, that song rips my heart out every time I listen to it. A “cheatin’ song” sung from the perspective of “the other woman”, that points out the fact that the real villain in that situation is the unfaithful husband.

Then there’s this collaboration she did with Bon Jovi:

Who Says You Can’t Go Home

And I don’t know what it is about Ms. Nettles’ voice. I’ve listened to many fantastic, amazing female singers, but she is the sole female singer about whom I can say, “Her voice makes my dick hard.” It has nothing to do with her looks - she’s a damned good-looking woman, but totally not my type. It’s her voice. I suspect something about the resonance. Perhaps it’s telling that my sister absolutely hates her voice.

Great links. Thanks!
