Literotica is my favorite erotica site at the moment, if for no other reason than they have a big selection of genres and post new stories frequently (they’re all user-submitted stories).
The writing itself is hit or miss, there’s some really good authors, there are some that are truly awful.

I think that the Web has contributed to a general breakdown in genres and distinctions of the sort quantified as “erotica” and “porn.” The fact that a writer doesn’t have tgo fit himself into a narrow publishing niche in order to get published on the Web means that the old boundaries get ignored a lot. Much of what was bad about porn, I think, was made that way by publishers who wanted to sell the most units of porn, so they laid down rules for writers who followed them because they wanted the money. So you had endless porn titles like “Mommy’s naked sex slave” and “Lesbian Threeway Dilemma.” You still get that online, of course, but you get a lot of OTHER stuff, too.

Sex is good in most contexts. The one I really don’t like is the teenage male concept of ‘we’ve all gotta get laid asap’, ‘any sex with no strings attached is good sex’, ‘just do her, who cares what she wants’.
As for porn/erotica: the word is ART. If it’s artistic, has had a bit of though put in to it, looks phisically beautiful then I’m all for it (no matter how hardcore it is). BTW, I admit to liking total smut in my younger days. And if that’s what you like I have no problem with it, I may even join in, it’s just not what I would choose.
As for uncomfortable: not on your life! It takes a lot to make me feel uncomfortabe.
My recomendations: Erotic Tales by Alberto Moravia, Gentleman’s Relish (movie staring Billy Conally, not porn or even erotica. Just a great story on the subject [with a few below the belt scenes]). There are also a few really good web sites out there, I’ll see if I can re-find some of them. 
Now, if you under 18 please look away. I’m not putting in links or even full addresses but I’m giving names of sites so please use them wisely! (and I really don’t want to get kicked out for this!)
RetroRaunch - yes this is pure smut but it’s some very beautiful smut.
artsex - again not quite art but better than porn.
gaypaintings.com - This one is far more artistic than you would think AND IS NOT ALL SEX BASED.
Again please be good! Over 18s only!!! (BTW this is nothing you couldn’t find googling for 5 minutes [that’s how I found it!])
