Before Super 8 films, and then video, and now DVD’s and the Internet, people used to buy porn books. Not magazines with pictures, I mean books to read. I know they are still for sale, but was curious if anyone actually bought them anymore.
Let me know if you, or…uh, if you have a “friend” who buys porn books to read.
Oh, great, that’s all we need.
Some guy buying a porn book in the airport.
Then when he wanders through the security check-in all the guards jump on him because they think he’s got a gun in his pocket!
I actually have a small section of erotica in my book collection. I personally love erotica, it gets me WAY hotter than watching porn or looking at pictures, but that seems to be fairly typical of females.
I have a friend who always enthuses about text-porn on the internet…it seems part of the attraction is that things can be done in a story that are illegal in RL (and hence illegal in pictures/videos). :dubious:
Text is so much better than images or video. I’ve never bought a porn book in my life though (and cannot understand how there can still be a market for porn now that the internet exists, but that’s just me).
I used to be quite a reader of pornography. As Cerri stated, nothing with pictures, just text, my preference.
Some time ago, friends and I dropped into a local X-rated shop for me to add onto my literature collection. I couldn’t find anything that was non-pictorial. I asked the guy behind the counter if they had anything and he said there was a huge box back in the back full of it. Apparently, it sold so poorly they simply packed it up and quit buying the new stuff.
He brought the box out for me to browse through and in the (literally) dust covered assortment, I found three little paperbacks that were right down my alley. When I was getting my wallet out to pay for them, he waved his cigarette at me, saying, “Take 'em. Nobody wants that shit anymore.”
Well, I did! I thanked him and kinda wish now I’d just loaded up the whole box…free porn is free porn!
Every now and then I’ll read porn, particularly on the Internet (yeah, free porn is free porn). I’ve also got a couple of comic books/graphic novels which are pretty good. My sex drive is depressed because I take Paxil and because of other physical problems. If my sex drive was higher, I’m sure that I’d read more porn on the internet (it’s been MONTHS since I looked at any) and I’d probably own some more books or comic books. I don’t own any videos, and frankly I’m not really interested in a series of money shots. Now, some R-rated films can get me pretty steamy, but it’s about the story at least as much as it’s about the sights on the screen.
Hubby and I have quite a few porn books that we just. . .obtained somehow (I don’t even know where they came from; I know we didn’t buy them). But just recently, we bought the Sleeping Beauty trilogy by Anne Rice. We bought them in a shop in Baltimore that specializes in things like restraint devices of the erotic kind. We’re both into that kind of stuff (B&D, I mean). Also, now that menopause has descended upon me, I find my sex drive depressed; it helps a lot to read that kind of stuff. Used to be that I was pretty much in the mood all the time, now I have to work at it. If I read a chapter or two of one of the Sleeping Beauty books when I get into bed, hubby has a much better chance of scoring that night, and I have a much better chance of really enjoying it! We have a few porn videos, but prefer the books.
I enjoy reading good erotica, much more than pictures or video, and I’m a man. But with the free sites on the internet (literotica and asstr are two good ones), it’s hard to imagine anybody actually paying for the books.
Well, in our case, paying for the books works better because our computer, and therefore our internet access, is in the dining room. Our two oldest daughters, 16 and 12, actually stay up later than we do, so if I were to read it on the internet, I’d have to do it while the kids are around, which is just creepy. The books, I can read in the privacy of my bedroom.
That would be an affirmative, it’s one that I like to visit. There’s one with coffee in the url as well but I can’t remember what it’s called (coffee something or other)
I do prefer erotic novels to the movies but some regular movies with just some steamy scenes can get me going pretty well. As Lynn said it’s as much about the story as it is the sights on screen.
One of my fave movies for getting me going is Embrace of the Vampire… you know the Alyssa Milano one… the lesbian scene… it’s only a couple of scenes in that movie that get me really going (previously mentioned scene being the main one) but they work.
Most of the erotica I pick up actually comes from the library. Yes, my public library has a small selection of erotica. I’ve never actually visited an adult store, which is kinda funny, but I never saw the reason for it when I could get stuff for free.
