My wife and I were having a discussion about girls and women who wear rings on their thumbs. She says it’s just a fashion statement. I agreed, but told her I’d heard that it’s an indication that the wearer is a lesbian. She said she’d never heard of this. I don’t care one way or the other, but I told her I’d post here and find out. It’s like the “guy wearing one earring in a certain ear” indicates he’s a homesexual.
I’ve heard that if the right ear was peirced it meant the piercee was gay. Maybe we should ask the gay guy?
I’ve never heard the one about the thumb ring though and I often wear a thunb ring. JFTR I’m not gay [sienfeld] not that there’s anything wrong with it [/seinfeld]
Nah. As far as I know, hasn’t got one damn thing to do with your sexual preference. I’ve noticed lots of chicks wearing thumb rings, and there’s no secret code involved, at least to them.
This is the first I’ve heard about that. The ring I wear on my thumb is one my beloved Gunslinger made for me, which happens to be too large to fit my fingers. I just think thumb rings are a fashion statement… not necessarily a statement that really says anything.
I wear a thumb ring and I AM a lesbian. It used to be a way for lesbians to easily identify each other back in the day, but now I think most women just wear them because they like them.
I had always heard they had a certain lesbian connotation,
although I know women at work who wear them and are married
with children.
I guess tempest2_2 answered the OP. I’m curious as to why they are no longer considered a way for lesbians to identify each other, though. Did they become too mainstream?
What, if anything, has taken their place as an indentifier?
I’ve known at least 2 women who wore thumb rings. Neither of them were lesbian… or… as we shall now and forever say on the Boards, both were pro-penis. (So far as I knew…)
