Fewer Campaign Ads?

I live in Illinois and I do not think I have seen a single ad on TV for any of candidates in the presidential primaries. Are there fewer ads this time? If so, why?

Candidates are just starting to run ads in the states that have primaries on Feb. 5, as Illinois does. Same in New York, where I just saw my first campaign ad today.

The expense of running ads is so enormous that nobody does it early. They’re too busy spending the money for immediate gratification. And what good would running ads in Illinois have done John Edwards or Rudy Guiliani?

I’m guessing that Hillary and Barack aren’t wasting money there, as he’s got this one sewn up.

Any reason why such a big Super Tuesday state hasn’t had any polling since December 13th? Or why Minnesota hasn’t had one since September 23rd? Is everyone just hoping they come out on top?

LESS! LESS CAMPAIGN ADS, DAMMIT!

Oh, wait. “Fewer” is correct. Carry on…

There was a Minnesota poll out yesterday and an Illinois poll out today, here .

I’m in Minnesota, and I got a polling call just last week. About the 3rd such call since Thanksgiving.

So they are doing them. But most of the polling is being done (paid for) by a specific campaign, and they keep the results for their own use – they don’t make them public. The one you see publicly are usually paid for by newspapers or broadcasters. They only do them on occasion, not regular weekly polling like campaigns do.

In Michigan I have seen 4588 Mitt Romney ads. But none lately.

Given that the Michigan primary was what, three weeks ago, that would make sense? :stuck_out_tongue:
