FF #4 Question: High Evolutionary a villain?

Love this take on the classic Fantastic Four characters. One thing I don’t understand: Why is the High Evolutionary sitting in on a super-villain seminar? He’s always been portrayed as aloof and mysterious, but not exactly a menace. He was one of those “above good and evil” characters Lee and Kirby kept throwing out back in the day, kind of like Galactus and Him; not exactly easy to judge by human standards.

When has the FF ever fought him? He was featured in a fairly recent Hickman story about two years ago, but not in a foam-at-the-mouth “I must kill Reed Richards to prove my superiority to him” kind of way. Didn’t he actually help Reed defeat Galactus once, back in the 70s?

According to the character synopsis in the first issue at least two of the main characters consider the High Evolutionary to be a god. So maybe it’s just to create future conflict.

The High Evolutionary did attempt to mutate the entire population of the planet at one point (Evolutionary Wars), which I’m guessing counts as anti-social behavior

It’s not a Super-Villain seminar, it’s a gathering of people who might be useful in brainstorming a way to stop Reed Richards. You’ll notice Tony Stark was not invited, though.

The High Evolutionary is an amoral idealist, and while I don’t recall any specific animosity between him and Reed, it’s fair to say that they that they’re on the opposite sides of some ethical questions regarding science.
