Not familiar with the books you mention so don’t know how they compare.

Lost by Gary Devon features a pretty disturbing relationship between young siblings. In the opening scene, little sister watches big brother intentionally shoot himself in the head. It gets more disturbing when he recovers…
hogg (delany), crash (ballard), cockpit (keshner), equinox (delany), uh…crimes in southern indiana (bill), anything by Allen B. Ury…but mostly hogg. enjoy.
“Billy Dead” by Lisa Reardon. An example of Grit Lit ( backwoods truth.) It has a very unusual, rarely visited, story-line.
Dark as it is, it describes love for me the best I’ve ever read it:
page 103, lines 24 & 25
“It feels like you’re using me as a rest stop, like you’re killing time,” she says. “I want someone who loves me like I’m the end of the road.”
