Fictional companies in Sci fi-related areas

The Polesotechnic League, from Poul Anderson’s writings.

Ohh!

The Hanzo Foundation - LOST - HANZ

Dharma Industries - LOST - DRMA

Except it’s probably Wolfram and Hart, LLP and probably not a public company.

Other evil law firms include:
Milton, Chadwick & Waters - Devils Advocate

Bendini Lambert & Locke - The Firm

The second one wouldn’t be sci-fi/fantasy though

I think one could reasonable classify Wayne Enterprises from Batman as “sci-fi related”.

From Shadowrun:

Saeder-Krupp Industries (owned by a dragon, no less!)

Gaeatronics Inc.

Fuchi Inc.

Its symbol would be Z. Not only short, as appriate for a god, but the symbol is currently available.

Harriman and Strong (HS) from The Man Who Sold the Moon

Shin-Ra Corporation - Final Fantasy VII - probably SRC, or SRE (for Shin-Ra Electric Power Coporation, the core company) or SHINRA.
Roxxon - Marvel Comics - RXN, no doubt.
STAR Labs - DC Comics - STL or STAR
Jost Enterprises - DC Comics (Doom Patrol v3) - JOST or JST
S-Mart - Army of Darkness - Take K-Mart’s symbol and switch the K with an S.
Planet Express - Futurama - PLEX

Oooh, good one! Or possible HSLE, for Harriman and Strong Lunar Estate?

Pretty exhaustive list of fictional companies here.

My favorite:

The Hidalgo Trading Company, If you don’t know where it’s from you’re probubly a young whippersnapper.

Clonus–Parts:The Clonus Horror–CLNS

Nah. They’d trade on the NYSE, not NASDAQ.

Yeah, yeah. The Bronze thing.

Isn’t that just down rhe street from Radio Staion WHIZ?

Or was that Apex Broadcasting? I can never keep the two of them straight…

Around the corner the Daily Star.

<CHALLENGE>Can you identify both of the firms I listed?</CHALLENGE> :dubious:

Hasn’t General Atomics (GA) been used in a number of stories? I know Heinlein used it a lot, but I seem to remember that Stephen King used it in Running Man as well.

No, Harriman’s umbrella covered a lot more than just the Moon. He had his hand in pretty much everything profitable.

There’s also the Shipstone company, but I suspect that’s privately held. As is the Howard Foundation, certainly. What was the name of the company in “We also walk dogs”? General Services, I think it was? They’re probably public.

From the Honor Harrington books, I think that ticker-symbols were actually given for the Hauptman cartel (HAUP), and Greyson Sky Domes (SKY). And if it’s corporate evil you want, there’s Manpower, Inc., though I don’t know what their ticker would be (since they’re not openly traded in Manticore).
